For some reason this time of the year (September) always makes me think of "For Old Time's Sake" - I don't know why. Maybe the album came out in late summer and thats what they were playing on the radio - way back when. Anyway, that tune has been running through my head lately. I also really like, "Forever My Love", I think the lyrics are fantastic and maybe because it was one of the few compilations she did with James. Despite the fact that it was overplayed on radio, I also really like "You're So Vain" - Carly and Mick are a great combination too bad they didn't do a few more together. I've also heard that she had Colin in mind when she wrote this song ;) - there the secret is out! Notify the National Enquirer!! My three cents worth, Tom ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 31 Aug 1998 19:02:11 +0200 From: "Hannele Hakala" Subject: My faves Hi Carly fans! My fave cover is Boys In The Trees, has always been. But I also like Hello Big Man and Have You Seen Me Lately. And Hotcaces, of course. My fave album in this summer has been Anticipation. It was a great comfort and gave me hope, when I was in a hospital (in a operation). Carly's music and her warm voice touch me very deeply and give me lots of energy, when I'm down-and-out or worried or depressed. I know it's not real hip to broadcast ignorance, but I had to say this out loud :-) Anyone else out there who never knew this? -Kenny On 8/31/98 "Manning, Thomas (Tom)" wrote: Despite the fact that it was overplayed on radio, I also really like "You're So Vain" - Carly and Mick are a great combination too bad they didn't do a few more together. I have always assumed this means the McCartney's. Kenny, I didn't realise Jagger was singing-I thought he played drums or something. So I learned something new too. catman Kenny Grant wrote: > Wow, live and learn, I never realized that was Mick Jagger on harmony on You're > So Vain...you'd think with all the airplay that song got I might have noticed > *one* DJ mention this at some point (or notice it on the album credits). > > I know it's not real hip to broadcast ignorance, but I had to say this out loud > :-) > > Anyone else out there who never knew this? > > -Kenny > > On 8/31/98 "Manning, Thomas (Tom)" wrote: > > Despite the fact that it was overplayed on radio, I also really > like "You're So Vain" - Carly and Mick are a great combination > too bad they didn't do a few more together. > > I've also heard that she had Colin in mind when she wrote this song ;) > > - there the secret is out! > > Tom > - -- CARLY SIMON DISCUSSION LIST http://www.ethericcats.demon.co.uk/ethericcats/index.html TANTRA’S/ETHERIC PERSIANS AND HIMALAYANS http://www.ethericcats.demon.co.uk ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 31 Aug 1998 23:37:35 +0100 From: catman Subject: Re: Fave Carly Songs Forever My Love has to be one of my favourite all time songs. A wonderful love song. i like to sing along but confess to having trouble hitting the right notes on this one and also the managing to breath during the finale! As a teen I was miserable, very(with good reason), I spent many many hours alone in a dark room with the headohones just listenting to all my Carl's over and over. Anticiapation will always have a place with me-it was my intro to Carly and was played so much I had 3 vynls of it and tapes too. In fact I have all of Carly's on vynl, tape and cd, although nothing after Hello Big Man is on vynl. catman ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 1 Sep 1998 00:41:39 -0300 From: "Renata Cristina Bastos de Paiva" Subject: Fave Cover Well, my favourite cover is from "Have you seen lately" album. It is a notable cover, even on back cover it is fantastic! The back cover from "Coming around again" . She's pretending to sing, sitting on the floor, I appreciate this one too. I am enjoying these questions. You can continue sending more for us!!! Kisses, Renata Cristina ------------------------------ End of hotcakes-digest V1 #30 *****************************
