According to a January 1989 issue of the now defunct "Fame" magazine, the cover of which features a wonderful photo of Carly, her father died in 1960 when Carly was 15 years old. He had suffered his third heart attack that year. According to the article: "After her father died, 15-year-old Carly became deeply involved with 20-year-old aspiring writer Nicholas Delbanco, whom she had met and fallen in love with the previous summer. The romance, consummated with disarming speed, cured Simon's stutter for good. "I wanted to love somebody and have somebody love me," she says. "I really needed to get attached." ( I never knew Carly stuttered until I read this article). This is a really good article from an magazine that I bought nine years ago and recently unearthed while cleaning out the garage. Otherwise, I would have no idea when Carly's dad died. Bev, going back to the shadows and old mags ------------------------------ End of hotcakes-digest V1 #25 *****************************
