Hi everyone, Just joined the list. I saw Trina for what I believe to be the first time this past weekend @ Falcon Ridge Folk Festival in Hillsdale NY. She was accompanying Susan Werner on percussion & harmonica, and WOW! I didn't know a harmonica could do that. Absolutely Amazing! I met her briefly the next morning in line @ the crepe vendor and Gushed just a little. Today I checked her out online to discover she is so much more than that. Hmm, given the music I listen to, I'm surprised I'm just discovering her now.Trina, where have you been? I'll be wanting to know when she's in Massachusetts & hope this list is just what I need to give me a heads up. Just reserved seats today for a Mellissa Ferrick show in September, another Berklee grad whose talent I find unique & well developed.wonder if they went to college together in Boston?...Maybe. Anyways, hello out there. :-) Dennis ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 26 Jul 2011 22:47:17 -0700 From: raven@igc.org Subject: Re: Saw Trina for the first time! Wow, you mean this list is still alive? :) I joined this list in 2003, was never very active, I think the last message I ever got (that was not Trina listing her gigs) was in Apr 2008, and Trina quit posting gigs in Oct 2010 ... most do not use mailing list anymore, they use Facebook. I see Trina on Facebook very often. > I saw Trina for what I believe to be the first time this past > weekend @ Falcon Ridge Folk Festival in Hillsdale NY. A lot more than just playing mouth harp. :) I first heard *of* her in 1999, she was playing mouth harp with Pamela Means in Claremont CA on Dylan's "Maggie's Farm", I have it recorded on cassette tape that a friend sent me. I first heard Trina live in 2002 at Club Passim in Cambridge MA, mostly playing guitar and singing with Pamela Means... next day I drove to Hallowell ME with her (and Pamela Means) for a gig up there, she is a delightful person, we talked for hours. > I'll be wanting to know when she's in Massachusetts & hope > this list is just what I need to give me a heads up. If Trina posts here, you'll get the news, but I've not seen Trina here since Oct 2010, she seems to use Facebook now. http://www.facebook.com/trina.hamlin She also has eight different "announcement" list, each for a different geographical area, see all the list at: http://smoe.org/cgi-bin/mj_wwwusr?func=lists-long Trina is headed for the Midwest now, then the Pacific Northwest. > Just reserved seats today for a Mellissa Ferrick show in September, > another Berklee grad whose talent I find unique & well developed. I've seen 35 Ferrick shows since Apr 1995, from Boston to LA, recorded every show I saw and gave her copies if she wanted, she is another of my favorite artists. Melissa is soon to release her first new studio album in several years, we are all excited about it. :) - -- Johnny Raven ------------------------------ End of hollow-digest V13 #1 ***************************
