I haven't yet mentioned yet that I finally got around to purchasing "What's That I Hear?: The Songs of Phil Ochs". Trina Hamlin has extremely long coattails for me to buy a 2-cd tribute to a musician I have never heard who passed away 25 or so years ago. Fortunately for me, however, there are a bunch of musicians on the compilation I have heard before, or would like to hear more of some time in the future. The track on which she is the accompanist is "Gas Station Woman". My opinion of the compilation is still in formulation, but I wouldn't suggest purchasing it if you expect it to sound Hamlinesque (since it doesn't). May Tough Luck avoid you! Oh wow, I have this collection, but I had no idea Trina was on it! I love Phil Ochs' songwriting, but never liked his singing or playing all that much, so I've been into Phil Ochs covers for many years. My favorite was disappear fear's cover of "Is There Anybody Here" (a solo version by Sonia of df is on this collection). When I first saw this 2-CD collection of Phil Ochs covers by lots of artists I likw, it was like finding a CD that I'd been waiting years to get even though it never existed before. -- Cos (Ofer Inbar) -- cos@leftbank.com cos@cs.brandeis.edu -- WBRS (100.1 FM) -- WBRS@brandeis.edu http://www.wbrs.org/ "If I never had existed, would you still remember me?"
