I keep waiting for a gig *I* can attend that doesn't involve a 10-12 hour drive each way. :-( I hadn't thought about it, but I guess my 10 year anniversary is coming up Nov. 21. Surprisingly, I didn't actually get to hear Emm perform the first time I met her. A few of you might remember the Northern Sounds show at the Freetimes Cafe in Toronto that year that featured Jess Weiser, Rayanne, and Dylan White. Since Dylan was on Dead Daisy, Emm came along and ended up running sound since Freetimes had no sound person. As I recall, I had to keep asking Emm not to kick my DAT deck - it seemed like no matter where I put it, she would find a way to get to it. I spent the whole show half watching the acts and half watching my deck. I should look for that recording. Based on my "Best of 1998" post to fte, I apparently became an Emm fan after being introduced to her during the 1998 Toronto Lilith Fair by some fellow Fumblers. I think I had to wait another year to see her perform - finally at the 1999 Toronto Pre-Lilith and of course the actual Lilith that year. As I think about it, I didn't actually get to "see" her at the Pre-Lilith. Since I was helping keep things under control, I spent the entirety of Emm's set in the back of C'est What dealing with issues. I didn't get to really pay attention to the performance until much later when I was able to finally watch the video. Man, that was a long time ago! These days, I just keep an eye out for an Emm date that I can actually attend. When I lived in Texas, I had to constantly come up to the East Coast or Canada to catch her. Now that I've lived in DC for 4 years, I don't think she's come through more than once. James, If you do ever scan the photos in, I'd love to get copies. Over the years, a lot of the fan sites have disappeared, along with the photos and such from gigs. I've been trying to archive them when I can since so much stuff is going by the wayside. My Emm website is down right now due to a hard drive crash, but I'm hoping to get it back up one of these days, with as much of the old recordings and such as I can muster. I'd love to include your photos if they ever get scanned. Try living in Florida! I got a surprise about 6 years back when Emm came to Orlando and played an intimate show at Rollins College. Since then I have had to make the trek to DC to see her. I'm thinking my 10-year must be about now, too, because I first heard of Emm from the Lilith Fair sampler CD (what a great sampler!). It is good to know you are all still out there! Aww HG is back in action thanks to Markeee.? Leave it to him to spark things up again! How time flies...My 10 year anniversary is this year as well, picking up Public from a local CD store, even tho the listening station was broken.? I picked it up blindly after looking at the CD insert and seeing that Emm wrote al the songs and played guitar, bass, and piano.? Very impressive. She's one of my biggest influences and a huge reason I got into writing and performing. :) I hope all of you are well, and I miss you all very much. Look me up on MySpace or Facebook, peeps! Tricia (Concepcion) aka TrishTLC p.s. James, I want to see your favorite TLC picture. ;) I have pics form that as well that I should scan too, including my favourite TLC picture.
