Don't know if any of you are fans or not, but I got to see Better Than Ezra this past Friday in St. Petersburg, FL. The venue was Jannus Landing, which is billed as "The Oldest Outdoor Concert Venue in Florida," was built in 1888, and is basically the courtyard of a bunch of buildings. It did have pretty good acoustics, and a nice raised stage. It didn't hurt that the night was beautiful. The band played a good smattering of numbers from all four of their major label releases as well as a few new tunes. They spoke of a DVD to be released soon (they said they had to pay off a few people, and Kevin Griffin made the tongue-in-cheek comment "yeah, like Outkast needs the money"). If you haven't seen them play--do so when they come to your neck of the woods. They do not take themselves seriously at all and appear to be mostly interested in their audience having a good time. They often break into other songs in the middle of theirs (this time deviations and derivations included "Miss Jackson," "Over the Hills and Far away," "Don't Fear the Reaper," and "Limelight," to name a few). You never really know what is going to happen. Last time I saw them, they pulled a guy out of the audience to play guitar on a song and then made him end the tune with a big jump off of the drum riser. It was funny and cool at the same time. I hope you all are well. Ryan - -- MCCLEARY,RYAN J ------------------------------ End of headline-girl-digest V7 #45 **********************************
