Just thought I'd send an e-mail to see if any Headliners have ever attended the "Rock the Boat" cruise (or, to see if anyone is planning to attend this year's cruise). http://www.therockboat.com/trb_night.html There's been in an interest among some of my friends in going this year, and I'd love to hear your thoughts/experiences! Thanks!!! The last time I saw DCFC was about a year or two ago after "The Photo Album" had just come out and it was with The Dismemberment Plan in the tiny Agora Theatre in Cleveland with not much more than one or two hundred die hards who braved the cold temperatures to come out and see the two bands. Last night there were closer to a thousand who came out to the Odeon to see the awesome experience that is DCFC. I have to say that as much as I enjoyed them w/Dismemberment Plan last time, they were that much more improved the second time around. Much more energy, better, fuller sound, and in general, just looked like much more seasoned performers. They played most of the songs from Transatlanticism except "Lack of Color" and "Passenger Seat", as well as "Movie Script Ending", "Why you'd want to live here", "Blacking Out the Friction", and "I was a Kalediscope" from the Photo Album and "For What Reason", "Company Calls" and "Company Calls Epilogue" from We Have the Facts... The closing song was the surprise "Prove My Hypotheses" from 2002's "You can play these songs with Chords", which totally rocked, and along with the extended version of "We Looked Like Giants" was probably one of the two best songs all night. "Transatlanticism" was a pretty awesome experience as well. Ben Kweller co-headlined and rocked equally hard and now I'm going to have to go dig out "Sha-Sha" and listen to it again. Openers Aveo are Barsuk-labelmates of DCFC and were pretty impressive as well and worth checking out, although on a few songs they sounded like Radiohead wannabes. If this tour comes near your town, go see these bands... I command you. My work is done here.... Back to lurkdom...
