I was so disappointed to have to miss seeing Emm in my backyard. Its not often that she comes around to Ohio and both times that she was here this year I had to miss. This time was due to one of my best friends getting married this weekend in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. so I was nowhere near the Oberlin, Ohio area. I'm sure she was awesome anyway, and I'm looking forward to hearing all the new songs. I think Rick and I were probably the only headliners at the show. Actually, there weren't too many people there - maybe 20-30. Some knew of Emm and some were newbies. Emm's performance was definitely great last night!! She played a nice mix of new and old songs - unfortunately it was a short set. And she mostly played the keyboard which I adore when she plays the keyboard. I'm always in awe of how her fingers seem to glide effortlessly across the keys. I recorded the show -- and I'm glad that I did because now I'll be able to listen to the new songs over and over and over again. She played 3 new ones - Billy Hang On, Drive and a another one that she said she wrote last month. I'm looking forward to another new Emm CD... hopefully sooner rather than later. It's always wonderful to hear her play new songs. ~Stephanie~ - -----Original Message----- From: owner-headline-girl@smoe.org [mailto:owner-headline-girl@smoe.org]On Behalf Of Plmrrik@aol.com Sent: Monday, November 10, 2003 12:24 AM To: headline-girl@smoe.org Subject: Emm in Oberlin Ohio last night Hey, What's up..... doesn't anybody else get to see Emm perform? Nobody is posting about her shows................Sorry, I just had to vent. Anyway... I had the opportunity to see Emm last night and she was her usual witty self. It was a benefit show for RAINN (she may have some details for RAINN on her website). Emm played second of three performers (though I think that was her decision) I can't remember the name of the first one. She had a very nice voice but her lyrics (and poetry, which she read) were a bit uummmm, unusuall. (or as Emm put it "R" rated, I might have put it a little different but I will leave that up to your imaginations). The other performer was Robin Stone. I enjoyed her set, she said she usually plays with a full band but was just her and her guitar last night. Emm played a somewhat short set so all three could play in the allotted three hour timespan. But she played and sang like the pro that she is. Not bothered by the small turnout, She played as if it were a full house. She did have one slip up though, forgot some of the words when doing "Phonecall 45" (you could almost see her blushing). The setlist the best that I can remember is as follows and not in the correct order: Symphonic Northern Holiday July Steriochrome Phonecall 45 Song #2 Billie, Hold On (from her new DVD) Untitled ( A new song that she just wrote) And another but I cant remember.......uummmm, and maybe another (it was late) LOL She is such a trouper, She said she drove there from home ( which is no short drive), She will be in Pa. next Saturday and VT. the Sunday after that. Then starting in early January she will be doing a steady trek across Canada opening for Jann Arden through February.
