First off, does anyone have any idea what time Emm's show with Matt Nathanson at Mount Union College is this coming Wednesday? The website doesn't say. Dana, Gretch, Nicky? Any ideas? Second, while we're waiting patiently for the next studio CD from our favorite starlet, I'm just wondering what new upcoming CDs or current releases is everyone getting excited about? Just thought I'd name a few, some I've pre-ordered already and can't wait to hear. Leona Naess' latest, Matt Nathanson's "Beneath These Fireworks", Death Cab for Cutie, "Transatlanticism" (I've previewed 3 or 4 of these tracks and it sounds AMAZING -- may get my early vote for CD of the year); The Twilight Singers, "Blackberry Belle", Beulah, "Yoko", Gemma Hayes, "Night on my Side", Thursday, "War all the time", the new Perfect Circle CD. Also think I'm going to check out In-Flight Safety who Emm can't say enough about in her journals... went to their site, downloaded a few tracks, and they sound good. Still highly hooked on current CDs from Interpol, Rilo Kiley, Taking Back Sunday, The New Pornographers, Yo La Tengo, ...And You will know us by the Trail of Dead, Matt Pond PA, Dashboard Confessional, etc. What are y'all listening to, I'm curious. Not that I can afford the gazillion CDs that I want right now. I want to get Executions of All Things..but I should really stop buying so many cds. Also listening to New Pornographers- Electric Version, Dressy Bessy, Paula Kelley- Trouble With Success.. , Pennywise- From The Ashes, Sarah Brightman- Harem. Any fans of Juliana Hatfield here? Her new band, Some Girls (with fellow Blake Babies Freda Love and Heidi Gluck of The Pieces), just released a cd "Feel It." I'm a huge JH fan, but was quite disappointed with it initially, but after listening to it over and over..I kind of like it. I'm waiting for the new releases by Azure Ray, April March, The Bangles, Living End and Cyndi Lauper. Anyone recommend the new Dido cd? ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 13 Sep 2003 22:58:54 -0700 (PDT) From: dana wagner Subject: Re: SEC: Ohio dates/New music hey rob (and everyone else): the mt union show starts at 8:30, doors are at 8pm. emm opens, and the show is free to all. and about the princeton show, which some have questioned about, it's an afternoon gig- doors are at 2:30pm. so start the party early! as for new music, i had the chance to listen to some cool stuff, which i promise to get soon, when i was down in dc over labor day weekend. gretchen et al introduced me to: rilo kiley (yeaaaah), new pornographers, broken social scene (!!!), and the new rosie thomas cd (now available for pre-order!). i recently purchased haley bonar's "the size of planets" which is AMAZING and i'm expecting to get her first cd soon as well. god she's good. just bought beth orton's "the other side of daybreak" which isn't all i expected, but good nonetheless. the remixes of "anywhere" and "daybreaker" (four tet remix) are killer. i'm getting into the remix of "thinking about tomorrow" which is one of my faves from daybreaker. but really, although i'm not drooling over the album, i think it does show her growth as an artist, in the remixes/collaborations, and the new songs. it's definitely a step forward. and it just means that more tourdates are on the way. ;) also finally picked up gemma hayes "night on my side" which i am REALLY into. i think she's just got a stellar voice and some really catchy hooks. i highly recommend it. and i know it's older but i'm super into the be good tanyas' "chinatown" right now. damn. very much looking forward to new death cab, new damnwells, and new matt nathanson. and oh yeah... my #1 "is it here yet?" cd: sarah mc's "afterglow". is everyone obsessing over the first single as much as i am? ;) - -dana __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Looking forward to: Sarah McLachlan (Nov. 4!!!!), Howie Day, DCFC (Oct. 7), The Damnwells (Oct. 7), Leona Naess (got to hear the whole thing before Emm's IOTA show last week, as they piped it through the place), Feist (Jan '04, hopefully), Sarah Harmer (Jan '04, as well, fingers crossed), K's Choice CD and DVD spanning their 10 years together (Sept. 29), Looking forward to hearing from others! gretchen >From: "Rob Tittel" >To: "Gretchen Corl" , >Subject: SEC: Ohio dates/New music >Date: Sun, 14 Sep 2003 01:08:20 -0400 > >Hey all- > >List has been quiet lately so after seeing Gretchen's quick post, I thought I'd throw some questions out there... > >First off, does anyone have any idea what time Emm's show with Matt Nathanson at Mount Union College is this coming Wednesday? Gemma's lead US single is "Hanging Around" and it IS incredibly catchy. I put that song on a mix CD I just made and I find myself replaying that track constantly. I also caught the video for it on MTV2 about a week ago and damn is she beautiful. There are some other really great tunes from what I've heard so far.... "My God" comes to mind.... amazingly beautiful. Everyone go AT ONCE and check her out. Forgot about the Dido and Sarah McLachlan CD's which are soon to come.... those BOTH would have been on my list as well... I haven't heard the new Sarah single to be obsessing over it. I don't listen to radio much, though I guess I probably should, since that's all I'm going to have to tide me over until the November release date. And damn Gretchen, you always clue me into such great music, and releases that I didn't even know were out -- had no idea Matt Good had a new one. His stuff is some of my favorite too -- love the dark lyrics as well. Thanks for the heads up on that and possible new Feist and Sarah Harmer releases early next year! Totally excited about the prospect of a new Sarah H album.... we haven't heard from her in ages it seems... not quite as long as Sarah Mc, but still... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Rob Tittel DreamsAwake Music NetRadio, CD and Concert Reviews, Artist Development, Photography, and more www.dreamsawake.com "Our truest life is when we are in dreams awake". -- Henry David Thoreau Click here to Listen to Jericho Two, indie-rock, folk, and 90's alternative internet radio www.dreamsawake.com/jericho2 "If I knew all the words, I would write myself out of here, If I was all the colors, I would paint you pretty in gold in a picture, so I'm told, little sister, so I'm now I'm sold, little sister, why don't you tell me about the sunsets in Sweden, and the laws of Eden, and how you were the rock of Gibraltar, and how they called you foxy, well that's another whole box of Pandoras" - -Jason Mraz, "0% Interest" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 14 Sep 2003 13:03:11 -0500 From: Subject: Re: New music Haven't bought much lately but am really looking forward to the new = Sarah McLachlan.
