I wish I had your life and get to go to shows every other day! I'm waiting for it to be the 2nd week of June, as I get to see New Pornographers, Alkaline Trio and Dance Hall Crashers. And not to mention I finally turn 21. Yay! Saw Emm at Sacred Grounds the other day, and wow! I wish she had a like a 3 hour set or something. It was just too short. June 12-Slim's in San Francisco June 13-House Of Blues, Anaheim June 14-House of Blues, Sunset Strip They rarely play, so if you're anywhere in CA, you have to go to at least one. This is their first shows since playing at the HOB in LA on Jan 5, 2002. For those who don't know who they are, they're a ska band from the Bay Area. Two female vocals. Amazing guitarist. They were a side project of two of the members of Operation Ivy (Tim Armstrong, Matt Freeman). As for what they sound like..I can't really explain..all their CDs sound a little different. Earlier stuff was more ska, later stuff sounds more pop/rock. It just gradually changed from CD to CD. There are probably some tracks you can hear on their website: www.dancehallcrashers.com. Mariano) Subject: May - Emm Gryner month in San Diego Got to see Emm perform with Maya Marin three times in the last two weeks. Whew! Does this qualify me as an official dedicated Emm fan? Not quite. I sat next to and chatted with a very nice young girl named Lindsey at both Border's shows. She traveled all the way from Arizona to see Emm perform. Now THAT'S dedication! Never heard Maya's stuff before; I liked it...and Emm's playing here one more time this thursday; this time with Matt Nathanson. I don't know if I can make that one because it's in the middle of the work week. Never heard his stuff before but if Emm's performing with him, I'm sure I'll like it. Anyone else here get to see all of these cool gigs? Emm rocks! Cheers & Good Times!
