Her song "Mary" sounds closest of any of her songs to a Sarah Slean song, "Temple" is possibly the most gorgeous "voice and piano only" ballad that I've heard since Sarah McLachlan's "Angel", and "It's a Game", "3 O'Clock in the Morning", and "Lay down your light" are just plain beautiful and heart wrenching ballads. "Never" just rocks. Three songs are available for download at kristinhoffmann.com. If you like it, go buy the album at once and support great independent music. If you live in NYC and are looking for some entertainment on a Wednsday night, go check out Kristin performing at Arlene's Grocery. She has two more shows left in an April residency (Wed. 4/23 at 8pm, and Wed 4/30 at 8pm). see ya, Rob (who is also still digging Frou Frou very much, as well as Kathleen Edwards and new CDs from the White Stripes, Blur, and The Postal Service, as well as the few Stars songs that i've heard and the new Muggs (featuring Greg Dulli of Afghan Whigs & Twilight Singers fame) collaboration called "Fat City" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Rob Tittel DreamsAwake Music NetRadio, CD and Concert Reviews, Booking, Promotion, Publicity, Photography, and more www.dreamsawake.com Click here to Listen to Jericho Two, indie-rock, folk, and 90's alternative internet radio www.dreamsawake.com/jericho2 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 17 Apr 2003 11:21:04 -0700 (PDT) From: Stephanie Hierro Subject: NEC: New artist - Josh Kelly Hey everyone! I stumbled upon Josh Kelly after hearing his song "Amazing" on an Internet radio station. And then last weekend while shopping at a used CD store, I found an advance copy of his CD "For the Ride Home" - which is set to be released in June 2003 on Hollywood Records (he recorded it with John Alagia who has recorded with John Mayer and Dave Matthews Band). If you go to Hollywood Records' web site, http://hollywoodrecords.go.com/index.html, Josh is featured on the front page, with a link to his web site. I've been having trouble navigating his web site, but there ARE audio samples of some of his songs so you can take a listen! I think he sounds similar to John Mayer and has some tendencies toward Edwin McCain on some of his songs. I love his voice! The CD has a great mix of songs -- ballads and upbeat music. Does anyone else know anything more about Josh Kelly?? Any information would be great! Josh's CD has been in my CD player non-stop lately (along with Frou Frou (LOVE IT!!!!!!! Go buy it NOW if you don't have it!!!), Howie Day, Jason Mraz and Oval Opus)! If you decide to check out Josh Kelly, I'd love to hear what you think! Have a great day! ~Stephanie~ ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 17 Apr 2003 23:58:35 -0400 From: Dan_Stark Subject: Re: NSC: New artist recommendation At 12:46 PM 4/17/2003, Rob Tittel wrote: >Everyone who loves Sarah and Emm Gryner should go check out Kristin Hoffmann >(www.kristinhoffmann.com) Rob, she sounds great!
