Anyway, here is my list. 1. Norah Jones "Come Away With Me 2 Cheryl Crow "C'mon C'mon" 3. Peter Gabriel "Up" 4. Beth Orton "Daybreaker" 5. Emm Gryner "Asianblue" 6. Aimee Mann "Lost In Space" 7. Mike Doughty "Smoff And Smang" (indie artist, lead singer from Soul Coughing) 8. Alanis Morissette "Under Rug Swept" 9. Julia Fordham "Concrete Love" 10.Coldplay "A Rush Of Blood To The Head" ----Rick---- ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 06 Jan 2003 06:14:32 +0000 From: Greg Teltschik Subject: OAC: Best of 2002 Unlike many others, my list is very, very short. In general, my listening is still dominated by live recordings, mostly of the ones I record. However, there have been a few commercial CDs that have caught my interest (in no particular order): 1. Emm Gryner - Asian Blue 2. Noelle Hampton - Under These Skies (released in 2000, but I just discovered it...hands down best the CD I've bought in years) 3. Stephen Kellogg - Lucky Eleven 4. Kylie Minogue - Fever 5. Anthony Stewart Head - Music for Elevators 6. James Taylor - October Road Frankly, nothing else passed the litmus test of being on endless repeat and still sounding fresh. A good album can last through 10 repeated playings and still make you crank it up. For live recordings, my big list for the year is: 1. Emm Gryner - The Point 4-6-2002 2. Stephen Kellogg - The Point 9-27-2002 3. Kyler England/Adrianne - Club Iota 4-7-2002 Carry-overs from previous years include Stephen Kellogg, Emm Gryner, and Tara MacLean, with occasional showings from Sarah McLachlan, Natalie Merchant, and the Indigo Girls. Frankly live is about 90% of my listening these days. The only movie I can say was really memorable this year has been "About a Boy." Nothing else springs to mind. That's all from me. Mariano) Subject: EC: =?ISO-8859-1?B?oEVtbSBhdCBHZW5naGlzIENvaGVu?= Did anyone else go to see Emm last night? If so, what'd you think? No more Emm performances on the west coast for a long while, according to her. She only played five songs, though. At least she played my favorite: Fetching Decay. Waz and Laura Dawn were good too. Fisher was really good, I saw them open for Duncan Sheik last year. Well, hope everyone's new year is off to a great start! Cheers & good times! (i'd wish everyone a great new year, but i don't want to put that much pressure on y'all. ;-)) richard _________________________________________________________________ Help STOP SPAM: Try the new MSN 8 and get 2 months FREE* http://join.msn.com/?page=features/junkmail ------------------------------ End of headline-girl-digest V6 #4 *********************************
