[Candace Smith ] Toronto benefit show, December 8th ["Tab Siddiqui" Subject: Cali Finale? Just wondering if Emm is planning on any final shows in the California area before she heads off back north? I just started reading her diaries recently and even though she's pretty mean to us Angelenos (boo) I still love her music (yay). Anyway, on a related note, we got a friend to blast "Free" at Urban Outfitters on 3rd Street Promenade last weekend. Kinda funny to see everyone's heads bouncin' to the beat in unision during that awesome chorus.. A few weeks ago I Saw Neil Finn, Robyn Hitchcock, Lisa Germano, Liam Finn, Grant Lee Phillips, and Wendy Melvoin together on the same little stage that Emm opened for Glen Phillips (so happy Toad the Wet Sprocket is back together again). Seeing Sigur Ros the next two days and this weekend Add N to (X). And, oh yeah, go buy the new Cody Chesnutt CD (awesome). ~candace Yahoo! I put together a benefit show every summer at C'est What in Toronto, but this year we've decided to hold it in the wintertime because Emm is free and has graciously offered her time and talent for a good cause. The first show actually came about because of Emm - she was looking for new and interesting shows to play at the time, and I suggested a benefit show... Lo and behold, we're now at show #5, so we're hoping to celebrate with as many friends as tiny C'est What will hold! Hope to see some of you there - do come up and say hi! Info is below. - - Tab. - ---------------------- Rant Mode On Productions 5th anniversary benefit show in support of the Toronto Disaster Relief Committee Sunday, December 8th, 2002 C'est What, Front & Church (Church St. entrance) Doors 8 pm SHARP $15 Featuring Emm Gryner and band, Danny Michel, Andrew Spice, Andrea Florian, and Vyletz Please join the Rant Mode On collective in a celebration of five great shows that have brought together the local indie music scene with local social justice causes in a display of community. This show is in support of the Toronto Disaster Relief Committee, a local homelessness outreach organization that lobbies government for affordable housing, and they also work directly with homeless people in shelters and on the street to assist them with finding housing and other needs. NOTE: C'est What is a wonderful but small space, so please arrive early to avoid disappointment. Once the club is full, there will be no further admittance. _________________________________________________________________ Help STOP SPAM with the new MSN 8 and get 2 months FREE* http://join.msn.com/?page=features/junkmail ------------------------------ End of headline-girl-digest V5 #242 ***********************************
