I got there around 810pm, as Andy Stochansky was singing solo. I thought 'ha, the folks who came here based on his rock song on XFM are thinking 'what the f is this folksinger crap?'' But then his band joined him and he did rock out. The with band songs were great. At 830, after an encore, the stage changeover. Andy had thanked Emm for sharing the tour bus, and tour, so I wondered if they shared bands as well, but some new kids came out and plugged in their gear. A stage manager dude came by and told them 'be ready in 2 minutes!! otherwise Emm will have no time!!' The drummer had his kit half put together. :P Emm took the stage at 850pm. (The dreaded early show must end by 10pm.) The band did too. I liked them. Unlike some reviews I've read, I thought they sounded great. Here's the setlist: Good Riddance Northern Holiday Siamese Star Divine Like You 89 Days of Alcatraz Crazy Train Beautiful Things Free Lonestar Wisdom Bus Summerlong encore: July Stereochrome Emm was pretty much in gunslinger rock chick mode. :P The size of the crowd was bigger than with Ron Sexsmith last time. The club was full, though not to capacity. (When I saw The Donnas there Monday, it was packed, and my clothes reeked of cigarettes after. No smokers tonight, and earplugs not required.) The show wrapped up at 10. And then the clubgoers for the disco whatever after the early show stood outside for at least an additional half hour as fans lined up to talk to Emm. :P (It's a policy at Richard's to have a lineup outside. Even when the club is empty.) Afterwards, Emm thanked me for stealing a poster. I got her to sign it. Her new greeting thing is to go 'gimme five', but it's a low five, not a high five. ? ;) All in all it was a great show! (Someone else can tell the story of the bass player's potted mums. ;) Bob ------------------------------ End of headline-girl-digest V5 #232 ***********************************
