I'll be at the Shortlist Awards that night with N.E.R.D., DJ Shadow, and Cee-Lo. Should be fun. I'm hoping either N.E.R.D., Bjork, or DJ Shadow wins (it will probably be N.E.R.D.). Some other new albums released next Tuesday that you might like: Bic Runga - Beautiful Collision Mr. Scruff - Trouser Jazz Sixpence None the Richer - Divine Discontent Carly Simon - The Carly Simon Anthology Add N To (X) - Loud Like Nature Sublime - Millennium Collection Ramsay Midwood - Shoot Out At The Ok Chinese Restaurant The Aluminum Group - Happyness Or at least that's what I pre-ordered. Should I also mention that new albums from Christina Aguilera and Nick Carter come out next week??? ;p Anyone else going to be at Tori's Universal Amphitheatre shows? We got orchestra 10th row for the first show and loge whatever row for the second. I wish she was playing the Wiltern Theatre again. I just saw Ryan Adams last night there (with Tegan & Sara) and they really renovated the place beautifully. Ani DiFranco is playing there tonight but I can't go. I do have tickets for the Vanity Fair concert with Lucinda Williams, Aimee Mann, and Neil Finn that's going to be there and of course Stormy Weather 2002 (with Joni Mitchell, Stevie Nicks, Sheryl Crow, Paula Cole, Norah Jones, Susan Tedeschi, etc.) - not to mention the Sigur Rss shows who, incidentally, played at last year's Shortlist Awards. ~c > Date: Tue, 22 Oct 2002 21:03:25 -0700 (PDT) > From: "mark'eee" > Subject: NEC: happy day... > > it is exactly one week until the most happiest of > holidays: > > entitled simply: [OCTOBER 29th, 2002] > > reasons to celebrate: > - --------------------------------------------- > release of "Scarlet's Walk" by Tori Amos > release of "()" by Sigur Ros > release of "We Are Your Friends" by Simian > premiere of 24's second season. > Tori Amos performing on Letterman. > - --------------------------------------------- > > how will YOU be celebrating [OCTOBER 29th, 2002]?? In fact, I felt it didn't really get going until she played "Free", about 2/3 of the way through the set; the top half of the show just dragged as it appeared as though she was playing all her numbers about 5 bpm too slow, annoying enough to be noticeable. However, I felt the encore -was- well-deserved, since she did manage to pick up the pace -- and vitality -- by the end of the set. - - Julian - -- [ Julian C.
