I was one of the birthday people at the Akron show, the other one was my friend "the Shoe" who came with me from Buffalo. It was well worth the 4 hour drive (picked up our friend Otis in Fredonia) to spend my birthday listening to great music. I would do it again in a second. Kudos to the rest of you who made the journey, and those who could not be there I hope that you can get to a show soon! Tricia, great job backing up Emm on Stereochrome. It was so cool to see Trish and Attila and Laura and also Rick again and meet some cool new peeps (Sarah and her friend Heather drove up from Findlay). I also saw Dave Chan for the first time (he sat two tables away from us although we did not introduce ourselves, sorry!) SO cool that everyone made the long drives to little 'ol Akron, the former tire and rubber capital of the world (our only REAL claim to fame besides the National Soapbox Derby). And Trish is a rock star -- beautiful harmony backup for Emm on Stereochrome! Trish summed up this show perfectly. It was an intimate and beautiful show; though it was small, it probably doubled in attendance from the last time Emm was in this neck of the woods last October. The only thing I could add about the show was that Emm did dedicate a song to me (for my friend/roomate Kristen who passed away from colon cancer 3 weeks ago at the age of 30). She played Julia and I swear I had tears in my eyes and a lump in my throat the entire time. It was just perfect. I've said it before and I'll say it again -- not only is Emm an amazing songwriter and performer, she is a quality human being and someone I'm proud to say I know. She always recognizes us at every show we go to and comes right up and says hello and chats with us, asks us how we've been, what we've been up to. Just such a good and decent person and not at all the jaded rock star type. She's just a sweetheart. It was fun seeing you all again and can't wait to see some of you again in Philly at the Point. Thanks for having dinner and drinks at Jillian's before the show, that was fun too! Trish, glad to see you made it home safely (driving with crazy Attila at speeds of 90+ MPH on the Ohio Turnpike must have been fun). catch ya on the flipside, ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Rob Tittel DreamsAwake Music Music and Concert Reviews, News Tour Dates, Booking, Publicity, NetRadio, and more... www.dreamsawake.com Click here to Listen to Jericho Two, indie-rock, folk, and 90's alternative internet radio www.live365.com/stations/193197 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ - ----- Original Message ----- From: To: Sent: Wednesday, September 18, 2002 11:31 AM Subject: Akron show > Hi everyone, > > I used to post about Emm's shows back in the Public days of '98, but I am > pretty excited to post about this one. > > She started with Summerlong, and the rest of the setlist I can't remember in > order so here it is...I think i got them all. > The End > Symphonic > Big Bang Baby > The Waiting Room > Christopher > Divine Like You > Stereochrome > Julia > Beautiful Things > Siamese Star > Northern Holiday > > For Stereochrome, she asked me if I would come up to sing backup vocals, > because "everyone knows the words." haha.
