Hi yall, A few months back I posted an opportunity to get 2 years of Blender magazine subscription for free! And guess what? I got mine today! Haw-yeah, paw-TEE in the HIZ-ouse! Anyhoo, did anybody else get on in this deal? Also, if yall have any clues to get any other music mags for free, please let me... ahem, I mean, us know. Especially, Alternative Press, CMJ, and Spin magazines - by far, these have the best and most on-the-edge music reviews. Besides all the zine ruckus, my life is infested with imagery of no other than Emm Gryner. I know I get it real bad for a grwl when I start to dream about her. And last night, it happened. Emm Gryner invades my dormancy. It's bad enough men think about sex every 6.5 seconds 24:7. For me, it's Emm. I don't know exactly why? It's not that she's like drop dead gorgeous. Nor the most interesting or intruiging person I know of. In fact, I don't even know her at all. I read her journal with its quirky sense of humor and nonlinear rambling. Also, I'm not a die hard fan. I don't even know the words to any of her songs. I sing the choruses. Probably, I just have to much time on my hands lately. Perhaps, I should refrain from listening to any of her albums. By the way, "Science Fair" is still my fave album by her. Actually, it has taken me two weeks to convince myself that "Asianblue" has some ummph... I dunno something different than usual. I love all your stories about Emm! Emm, where ever you are, I'll be wishing on you. John. Yahoo! Sept. 11 is approaching. An anniversary to misery. A reminder of our mortality. A day of note. Sept. 11, 2001 is duplistic in that we cringe at its mention and close our ears and thoughts recalling the horrible memories. I laugh at us. Our society. We learn little about ourselves and like lemmings pit ourselves on the cliff of our own destruction. History repeats itself time after time after time. For example, US has try to keep its self outside foreign issues. We as US Americans neglect the poor and unfavorable. We see the people in the ghettos and do we offer any real relief? Of course not! Fend for yourself. Forget your fellow man. Every person for himself. But, they who are apathetic must understand that we are all bonded to the same world. What affects one happens to the rest. In this manner, US removes itself from world affairs. Oh, we'll have nothing to do with the Middle East. Yet, we supply them with arms. The entire sha-BANG... you're dead! Whoever devise to sticking the Israelis in their so-called "Holy Land", that person(s) must have known the chaos that would ensue. The Jews were given a homeland directly after the WWII fiasco. Ironically, the cause to that war would be the precursor to a Holy [sh*t] War. A contributing factor in Hitler's popularity amongst the Germans was his adamant disfavor for the Jews. The Jews were made the scapegoat and blamed for the misfortunes of Germany. Germany at that time was in a depression. However, Jews were doing well despite everyone else. Guess what? The Jews lived with the Germans. Hitler blamed the Jews for the German's suffering. And so the rest is history. Now, the same thing has come about in Israel. The Palestinians first native to Israel were under British rule and of course, in a dire desparation. Then, out of the blue, courtesy of the WWII victors the Jews were given land originally belong to the Palestinians. The Palestinians are poor, yet the Israelis (Jews) are doing well. So, again with the fingerpointing. I believe somebody wants the Jews dead, for real. Stoopid. The whole lot of them. The land is only a symbol. Where does your faith lie in a grain of sand or in your heart, in your mind, and in your soul? They, both, are effing hypocrites. That's why I believe religion should not be practiced by the ignorant. They have to ask themselves,"Do we serve [God]? Or does [God] serve us?" I'm praying for a black hole to open in the sky and suck the whole moronic planet inside. I am certainly peeved off! Yahoo! She was only 30. Thank you so much to everyone for your prayers and supporting emails. It meant a great deal. Everyone who sent me an email and asked me to pass along their prayers and thoughts to Kristen, I printed your emails and brought them to her at the hospital and she read them all before her condition took a turn to the worse early last week. They made her smile. As you all know, she had Stage 4 Colon Cancer; they just don't test for that in 30 year old females. She could have had it for as long as 7-10 years and she never knew. She only began presenting with symptoms 2 months ago and by then it was too late. She really had no chance. She looked GREAT after the first surgery and was eager to get out, get home, and get started on Chemo so she could fight this. But her body never fully cooperated. A week after being in the hospital, she began to struggle with keeping solid food down. They say this is partly because the stitches in her intestines kept popping out -- they would not stay in due to the weak condition of her insides. This led to multiple problems for her. In addition to this, she also developed a blood clot in her left arm, consistently ran a fever of 102 or higher, and late last week it was revealed she basically had dysentary from the fecal matter slipping out of her bowels and into her system. It is also rumored that the cancer had spread into parts of her kidneys, liver, and stomach, although that has not been substantiated. The bottom line is that she was in a great deal of pain. She probably would not have made it much more than a couple of months anyway, but when the doctors told her parents on Tuesday of this week that she had reached the point where she would have to go to full life support, her parents said they did not support that and made the difficult decision to remove her from the ventilator, which would effectively end her life. Know that she was not in pain and went quickly. We all (her closest friends) spent the entire day Wednsday at the hospital and several of us were in the room holding her hand right up until the last breath. She did feel ALL her friend's love, and I truly believe she died peacefully. She loved her friends so much. She considered us all her family, as we did her -- Kristen was like a sister to all of us and she will be missed. Thank you again to everyone who prayed for her and had her on prayer lists at their places of worship. I believe that she is in a good place right now and looking down and smiling on all of you.
