The show was incredible! I really enjoyed Andrew Spice's set, such a beautiful and talented songwriter. The cover of the Tori's "Leather" was definetly an unexpected treat. I wished I had been able to express my admiration personally, but sadly Andrew jetted out of there quite quickly. And what else can you say about Emm? The show was lovely!!! And I cannot express how much I appreciated hearing "Idaho" again. I was so psyched that she took my request, even though she was a little more than surprised when I shouted out "I love you" as an expression of my thanks. It's my favorite song, and I haven't heard it live since my LR show two years ago. Her voice sounded better than ever. Since I never got the chance to comment on the new album, I will do it now. When I got it in the mail I listened to it right away. I must say I was extremely surprised and a little disappointed at first. I really thought this was going to be an album of piano ballads, and it SO ISN'T! However, I quickly warmed up to the album and now I really love it. "Northern Holiday" is not only my favorite song on the album (tied with "Green Goodnight"), but one of my favorite Emm songs ever. It's addicting, and after her performance at the Senator, my feelings towards the song only grew. I'm also in love with "Green Goodnight". I cry every time I hear it because it really speaks to me, and I feel I can relate to it. So even though Emm only decided to put two piano ballads on the album, I'm glad "Green Goodnight" was one of them. It was SO GREAT seeing everyone again! KR is as inspired as ever, and it was nice to meet her "astrology-friendly" girlfriend. Also got to speak with Rannie and Chelle (please correct me if the spelling is wrong) for the first time. I enjoy the siblings, they're so friendly. Dave from Buffalo, my fellow NY state fan, was also there and we got to chat a bit. I even snagged a picture with "Summerlong Jonny"!!! That was definetly my crazy excursion for the week. That's all I have to say for now. Thanks to everyone for such a great night! Hey guys, I taped all of Emm's set with the execption of about 5 minutes to change tapes. But I have sent it out to be put onto vcd. If i can I'll burn a copy of it for anyone that wants one. The only thing I ask is for something to cover the cost of shipping and to cover the CD I'm thinking around $10 but i've got to check on shipping charges. Please excuse any camera shake; I forgot my tripod and was hand held in the back of the room for the whole show. So if you do want a copy send me an email to: sortofhumanbeing@yahoo.com with "a copy please" in the subject line. (for those that were at the show I know that the title of the song isn't "sort of human being") Later Steve Oh yeah if you do want a copy include your mailing address. I'll be getting the vcd in about 2 weeks which means it'll be about 3-4 for yours. - --------------------------------- Get a bigger mailbox -- choose a size that fits your needs. http://uk.docs.yahoo.com/mail_storage.html ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 25 Jul 2002 18:58:59 +0000 From: "Danila Bloomberg" Subject: Re: NEC:Indie exposure cool..:) bright eyes are awesome! maybe they could fit in if they marketed it as she-mo? lol...I'm only half joking actually... her music is not that different from some of the emo stuff that's out and slowly getting media attention... it sucks that what's lucrative is often marketed based on gender... but that's the way it is, and she's an artist that deserves to be exposed... it could be a small niche... >From: "res0use2" >To: >Subject: NEC:Indie exposure >Date: Wed, 24 Jul 2002 16:43:54 -0700 > >i just thought i'd drop an e-mail about something i saw on mtv that gives >me >hope that maybe in a few months or so, we'll see more of emm here in the >states(or anywhere) > >just saw a segment on Desaparecidos, Conor- lead singer of bright eyes and >his >pals got some exposure.
