Groove Station 7. dont laugh, its full of really good club hits.(blush) 2. Verve Remixed...new spins on some of the most beautiful jazz recordings ever. check out the MJ Cole Remix of Carmen McRae and Dinah Washington's 'is you is or is you ain't my baby' remixed by rae and christian. WOW BEAUTIFUL. what i love about this is that the remixes are really chill and sexy and soulful. 3. Moby - We're all made of stars.. check out both versions of this single...the remixes are actually really good..esp the Tiesto one....the first version of the single has two unreleased tracks that are GOLDEN. the 12" of this single contains a remix by Bob Sinclair of Africanism fame. this guy is a god...and this remix is nice and funky..kinda 2 steppy.. 4. Deep Dish - renaissance ibiza not as cheesy as most ibiza compilations..dont worry.....deep dish remain one of my favorite house acts. this album is FULL of goregous tracks....can't stop listening to it right now... deep house..pretty funky in spots. track one and 13 are my favorites from disc one. 5. Rampling and Morales this is a dj mix by Danny Rampling and David Morales that is full of really really quality dancy house. these two are the best mixers. theres a track on the morales disc called 'the night moves on (raya extended vocal) by Limos that features a sample from Roach Motel, of all things, and which is remixed by kevin Yost (wicked dj now signed to Nettwerk) funky new york house..think kings of Tomorrow with a teeeny bit more pump. ok theres more but im ramblin. xo kr _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp. ------------------------------ Date: 11 May 2002 11:15:48 -0700 From: AK Subject: NEC Anyone else been listening to Grandaddy CONCRETE TUNES (rarities, imports, previously unreleased, and out of print tracks)? __________________________________________________________ Get your FREE personalized e-mail at http://www.canada.com ------------------------------ Date: 11 May 2002 11:20:10 -0700 From: AK Subject: [none] Oops, that should be Concrete DUNES. __________________________________________________________ Get your FREE personalized e-mail at http://www.canada.com ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 11 May 2002 15:25:50 -0400 From: "Elizabeth Weber" Subject: Re: NEC: Concrete Dunes >Anyone else been listening to Grandaddy CONCRETE TUNES (rarities, imports, >previously unreleased, and out of print tracks)? Just thought I'd pass this along from the Grandaddy site... http://www.grandaddylandscape.com/newspage.htm - ----- 1-16-01 Hello again. It has been brought to our attention that Will Records, our former label, is planning to release a "new" record by "us" on February 19, entitled Concrete Dunes. Please be advised that this album arrives without our input or knowledge. It consists primarily of The Broken Down Comforter Collection, which I have usually seen in stores for less money than Concrete Dunes is selling for. We were not involved in the decision to rerelease or repackage this album. We first saw the incredibly questionable artwork, title, and new track listing on the internet, after being given the heads up by a friend. The additional material does not merit a rerelease in our opinion, and could be considered grossly opportunistic. I think that it's probably illegal for us to discourage you from buying it, so I won't actually verbalize that sentiment. Again, at the risk of sounding incredibly redundant, we have nothing to do with the release of a record entitled Concrete Dunes. Pleasant afternoon to everyone. - ----- elizabeth _________________________________________________________________ Send and receive Hotmail on your mobile device: http://mobile.msn.com ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 11 May 2002 14:00:31 -0700 (PDT) From: "laura a. robeson" Subject: NEC: Ember Swift A couple random things.. I just now saw that Emm's playing at Java Joe's May 17th and she's opening for Lisa Sanders! I loooove Lisa, she is so awesome, I saw her at a living room show in Toledo a while ago, maybe 3 or 4 years..? But she's awesome, so much feeling and soul in her music. So there's even more incentive on top of the fact that Ms. Emm will be there. :) Also, last night I just saw Ember Swift for the first time, here in Columbus.. anybody heard of her? She's from Toronto so I bet somebody has. She was amazing, it's hard to begin to describe her show because she covered just about every genre of music I know of. Her violinist/bass player was pretty amazing as well. So check her out if you get a chance. That's all, just wanted to break my silence. Have a great weekend everyone, Laura LAUNCH - Your Yahoo! I've seen her a handful of times and initially was afraid that she'd be another Ani knock-off, but she has some very distinctive and original material. I think she's been voted NOW Magazine's "best live female musician" a few times in the past few years. Highly recommended. She played a show last year at the Art Bar with Australian singer-songwriter Penelope Swales (website at the usual address) which was a riot. Penelope is great, too. - - Julian - -- [ Julian C.
