I have to say that I *looooooooove* "Ophelia" and yes, it's quite an emotionally intense CD. I haven't listened very closely to the lyrics on Motherland, but for the few songs that I did, it seems she's still making various points but being purposely vague about them. I think it's an unusual departure for her, since she's always just come out and said things in her songs but without seeming like she's doing it; she tells a story instead but makes it very straightforward. And yes, I wish she was coming to Toronto. What's the matter here? Didn't we give her a big enough welcome last time? :-) - - Julian - -- [ Julian C. But it doesn't make an inkling of difference in my mind that she, well, kicks ass anyway. - - Julian [ Julian C. I guess i will field the Andrew Spice question.... i am not saying it will definitely be on the DD label... but there is a very good chance of it being distributed via DD. When i did my Interview with Emm back in August.... she did mention that she really wants to expand on DD. Emm is really excited about Andrew's music ( i mean like really really excited) and has completely taken him under her wing. Andrew of course is in Toronto this week and he was in the studio with Emm on Monday. If you are in Kingston... Go and catch the show tonight with Emm (check her site for details) Andrew will be playing a couple of songs at this show.... and of course i am gonna say it again, cause i can't say it enough... If you are in Toronto, come and see Andrew play at the Art Bar tomorrow night (Queen and Dufferin) it is a small intimate setting.. and andrew will be playing on a real piano. He is quite a personality and his songs are beautiful.... (and if you don't want to take my word for it... then takes Emm word on the subject)... Also tomorrow night Vyletz will be playing.... yep yep .. That's chelle and her cohort Liz.... kick ass..... The night will close with a performance by my good friend Jeff Straker. Another boy on piano... very charismatic!!!! Cheers Rannie http://www.rannieturingan.com #2. Is Andrew Spice's cd gonna be released on DD? ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 21 Nov 2001 10:15:03 EST From: DChan1701@aol.com Subject: Everybody Hates Poetry good question ben. i wonder the same. my theory is that emm just got plain old busy and the poetry book got placed on the backburner for a bit. i do, however, eagerly anticipate its release. anyone else have a guess on this one? or a real answer (unlike mine!) dave ------------------------------ End of headline-girl-digest V4 #274 ***********************************
