I actually did ask the Lee's security guys on doors what the count was, because sometimes it's hard to guess in a room that size, and they said it was 61. It's too bad, because that would've been a nice sized crowd at a smaller venue. I picked up Andrea Koziol's first two CD's at HMV last week and I'm ordering Kathryn Rose and Jory Nash online in a few days (when I get paid!) I got Tanisha Tait's cassette in the mail today and it wasn't at all what I expected - but WOW. There are some killer songs on that thing and the lyrics are like daggers through your heart. It made me cry. Sounds like she's been through some pretty heavy stuff. I love when artists open up in their music and write words that take guts to share. Now I need to get Andrea Florian's CD and also Rachel Smith, who sang at the Rivoli benefit and who you've all GOT to hear. I love discovering new artists! And I just found out that the Lindi on this mailing list who wrote me is the same Lindi I saw at CMW who was awesome... Nice to "meet" you Lindi! Grace PS - Is anyone else as excited as me about new Natalie Merchant AND Jewel albums coming out next week? I can't wait! _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 07 Nov 2001 20:28:39 +0800 From: "Michael Keast" Subject: Re: OAC: Weeping Tile benefit shows >Talk about a nice Xmas present! ;) Oh my god, that's such amazing news...I've been waiting for this for a LONG time! It's a woman, she looks really young (maybe in her early 20's), and she's really really good. I'm just curious to know how long she's been playing for, who else she's played with, etc.. I saw Natalie on Saturday and again last night, and all I can say is wow. She always puts on a good show...she played for 2 and a half hours last night!! If she's coming near you and you hadn't planned on going, please go. You won't regret it. Please come There are two special showcases coming up that I have been working hard at putting together for Emm.... Many of you may know (if you read Emm Journal's) that she was started doing some work with a young man from Winnipeg. This amazing, talented singer songwriter is Andrew Spice. Andrew will be doing two shows in Toronto in a couple of weeks. Emm likes to compare him to Sarah Slean, Tori Amos and Rufus Wainwright.... Personally, I think he is the male incarnation of Emm. But come to one of these shows and decide for yourself. The First Show is a In-Store Performance at The Music Authority at 500 Church Street. (Between Wellesley and Carleton). This will be happening on Sunday November 18th at 3pm ( another special guest TBA) http://www.musicauthority.ca The second showcase will be a special performance at The Art Bar. (Queen and Dufferin at the Gladstone Hotel). This showcase is on Thursday November 22nd at 9pm. The performers include. Andrew Spice, Vyletz and Jeff Straker (a good friend of mine just starting out as well) PLEASE please PLEASE mark these dates down in your calendar and show your support to these artists Thanks Rannie Turingan http://www.rannieturingan.com ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 7 Nov 2001 07:01:27 -0800 (PST) From: dana wagner Subject: Re: OAC: soundtrack of Beatles covers is this album in stores yet? i'm flipping! :) - --- Elizabeth Weber wrote: > GRANDADDY!!! Just wanted to thank you all for talking up Death Cab so much. Here in this land in which there is a true dearth of good music, I got the chance to see them last night. After Better Than Ezra cancelled two weeks ago, I thought that we would never get any good music here in Gainesville, FL. However, I happened to notice that Death Cab was playing, and your kind words about them sent me to see them, despite the overall lameness of my friends. It was well worth the effort, although they didn't play "For What Reason." They rocked the full house and said they would put Gainesville down in their notebooks as "the town that didn't give a fuck that it was a Tuesday." Maybe that will prod some other acts to come our way (read: EMM, COME TO FLORIDA!!!!!) Thanks again.
