I recall seeing an ad in either EYE or NOW this past week.... ( although Eye features a picture of Erin Smith in the listings, by yours truly ) ... As for the Fembots, they played the Horseshoe last Saturday, but i was grooving to The New Deal with Tab (speaking of Tab she has an article in KlubLife magazine regarding the New Deal, with a picture of her, by me)... somehow i missed Idaho show in town a couple of weeks ago... but it seems like I missed a few good shows a couple of weeks ago Other fine acts coming to Toronto soon.... Leona Naess at the horseshoe tomorrow. I got the new album last week and i like it so far, she hasn't changed her formula too much from her first album. death cab for cutie is playing at the Horseshoe this coming Friday. i gotta check this out if I can..... Ivy at the Rivoli on Saturday. This is one of the newest artists nettwerk is churning out, reminds me of Lily Frost, who is also on Nettwerk. Tamara Williamson at C'est What on Sunday This will be the last show of her one month residency at C'est what? Jay, Julian and I were there this past Sunday. She usually plays two sets, we only stayed for the first, but she is awesome, just ask Kristy Radford (where are you?) Erin Smith Band and The Vyletz will be playing at C'est What? next Thursday Nov 1st. This should be another great show, Erin just had her cd release party on Friday to a great crowd. check out her new cd DowntownSmogCrown, some amazing stuff on here that i never thought i would hear from Erin. plus my photos are featured in the cd art.... sweeet!!!! As for Vyletz, they keep getting stronger with every performance go see them NOW.... ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 23 Oct 2001 09:25:07 -0400 From: Jason Schneider Subject: RE: Beta Band stuff and other Toronto shows it's tonight! oh no! what to do?! jay ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 23 Oct 2001 15:05:40 -0400 From: "nobody special" Subject: oac: no, michael, no! hi. just thought i'd let those of you in the boston area that no, michael, no! is a really cool band, and that they're performing at the kendall cafe on monday, oct. 29. their music can be somewhat described as a combo of pop/country/folk/jazz/rock...ok, so that probably doesn't help much...*shrug* you can check 'em out at http://www.nomichaelno.com i go now. richard ~~~~~~~~~~ current obsessions: writing country waltzes "into my arms," nick cave "cure for pain," "candy," morphine exhaustion honing my brooding skills ~~~~~~~~~~ "someday... they'll find a cure for pain... that's the day... i'll throw my drugs away." - --"cure for pain," morphine _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 23 Oct 2001 19:26:36 EDT From: Songbird22@aol.com Subject: Re: Emm on UmbrellaTV tab writes: > > There's an interview with Emm over at the good ol' UmbrellaMusic site. > Kinda amusing (you'll see what I mean when you check it out)... ;) Hehe. I love Hot Shots II. This recommendation comes a bit late (wasn't the Toronto show tonight?), but go if you can even if its just for all of the drums at the end (yum!). They definitely put on a good show. Home made films (that rock), costumes, stage decor of lots of tissue paper flowers (I currently have a lovely tissue paper and green straw garland that Steve passed down from the stage draped over my bedroom window)... elizabeth _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp ------------------------------ End of headline-girl-digest V4 #247 ***********************************
