That would be Tanisha Taitt. http://ttaitt.virtualave.net/ yeah, i was there, too. very good show. tanisha was the pleasant surprise of the night -- she's improved immensely since I last saw her. great stage presence, very confident, was by far the most articulate about the issue of the night (racism) ... and, yes, she can sing. :) Paul shad 96c / uw cs 2001 / mac activist / eda / fumbler fan of / jewel / sophie b. / sarah slean / steve poltz / emm gryner / / x-files / buffy / dawson's creek / habs / bills / 49ers / t h i n k d i f f e r e n t. The artist who organized the event is Tanisha Taitt and her website address is: http://ttaitt.virtualave.net/ The other female artist who actually opened the show was (I think) Andrea Florian. I don't think anyone has posted a review of Emm's performance on Mike Bullard.. I know it airs Monday, but someone besides me must have been at the taping on Friday, right?? I hope it's not taboo to post a review before the TV air date. ;) They had her perform half of it without recording to get a feel for it. She definitely sped it up a little bit to make it a little friendlier to the TV people, I guess.. It didn't detract from it though. When they actually did the taping, the whole thing was superb.. Alex Mcmaster accompanied her on the cello.. which I lovedddd... (the cello and the piano are my two most favourite instruments.. I wish as a side project maybe that she would redo OLY or some other album with just piano and cello!)... The one glitch during the thing was that just before the 'peaches and cream' line during the piano solo, Emm missed a note or hit a wrong note, I *think*..and if I'm right the bad thing is the monitors showed that the camera was zoomed into her hands at the time. *ack!*.. they didn't retake it though so either I heard wrong or they just didn't think it was a problem. Mike talked to her after the performance.. She explained in brief the story of how she was not allowed to play Sugar but then got permission once the lead singer of Def Leppard wrote a letter for her... On a non-emm note, WHAT WAS UP WITH "JUDY"?????... You'll all see what I'm talking about on Monday.. it was HILARIOUS... I'm not the kind of person that laughs out loud at most things, but this I was CRACKING UP AT... The off-camera antics were even funnier... does anyone know what happened ?? - - Ian Stained Tuesday http://emmgryner.cjb.net ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 14 Oct 2001 21:29:58 -0400 From: "Gabriell Rickard" Subject: RE: Re: wee! i'll share mine wit you guys :o) ...is that allowed? are there any rules and/or regulations on our headliner passes? love and rockets From: "courtneylove@dork .com" To: headline-girl@smoe.org Subject: RE: Re: wee! There is no deadline for applications, however Emm may not get to the most recent HP pass requests right away. She will definitely get them sent by year's end, and once that is all squared away then the cool discounts and crazy stuff will start happening with those. So, this is to let you know that you can still request a pass, but they may not be sent right away since Emm is doing a lot of touring. The passes are handmade by Emm, so as soon as she can get to them, she will. Hang in there. Thanks to everyone who went to Emm's Borders show in Boston today...the place was packed and everyone had a good time. We hope to see you at the Lizard Lounge on Thursday!
