I actually prefer Plumb to Ten > Cent Wings but they're both amazing albums... all of her albums are great :) Hmm... no one's mentioned "Steady Pull", her latest album. Is that one not as good as the other ones? The only song I've heard off of it is "Linger" and I think that would fit right in on "Ten Cent Wings". - - Johan ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 10 Sep 2001 09:19:52 -0400 From: rturingan@dico.com Subject: NETTWERK Re: OAC: Martina Sorbara Wow it is good to here that Martina has signed a deal with Nettwerk Records...... As for marketing.. and Nettwerk failing to market such bands as the wild strawberries.... You have to stand back and look at Nettwerk's structure. Because some artists like Sarah M. and Tara are on the label as well as managed by Nettwerk. Some bands, like the wild strawberries were more or less distributed by nettwerk, but not totally managed by them. Thus you see different marketing wheels for different artists on the rooster. On the old site all the artists were divided between nettwerk managed artist and non managed artists.. but on the new site they grouped everyone together. Very Strange indeed... Yep, definitely going to check out 'Lilith on Top' at the Friday night premiere. Spoke to director Lynne Stopkewich the other day, and she sounded absolutely thrilled about the project and was a delight to interview. Chelle, Rogers is very lucky to have landed Sarah, because she's not doing a whole lot of media while in town - but I'm still trying to land an interview! Give her a hug or something for the whole lot of us that miss her terribly. ;) From what I can tell, it seems like the film will play much better on TV than in theatres (it's slated for Global this fall), although they are still hoping for a distribution deal for a limited run in select cities (kind of like 'Barenaked in America')... While we're on the subject of 'Lilith on Top', did anyone else catch Roberta Carter Harrison of the Wild Strawberries performing a radically different version of "I Don't Want To Think About It" on CityTV's Festival Schmooze party/program last Friday, *minus* her husband Ken Harrison, but with a DJ and a cellist?! The performance was supposed to be highlighting the film (they projected scenes from the film behind the stage) - I was there, but didn't get a chance to find Roberta to ask her about the rather odd lineup. Anyone know what's up with the Strawbs these days? So, anyone else living on espresso and films this week during the featival? ;) More importantly, did anyone else stand in the insanely long lines at the box office for tickets?! Or the rush lines at ungodly hours of the morning? It's been utterly worth it, though - in the past three days, I've seen more movies that totally blow away whatever dreck there is coming out of Hollywood than I have in my entire life. If you're in the Toronto area and haven't been out to a festival film before, take a chance on something you've never even heard of but sounds intersting, and just *go*! Believe me, it's totally worth it.
