ALSO, for those not familiar with the point, it is one of the nicest venues you will ever come across. it is one of emm's favorite places to play, and one of my favorites to see a show at. it's a coffeehouse that also serves wonderful food. no alcohol is served, but they do allow BYOB (beer or wine). so everybody LISTENS rather than going to drink. all ages. no smoking. cheap ticket prices. nice, comfy seating. all around fabulous. last year it was voted "best place to hear live music in philly" by citysearch, and is up again this year. you can go to philadelphia.citysearch.com and vote for THE POINT. it was also just voted 'best of philly' by philly magazine. www.atthepoint.com hip hip hooray. see ya saturday, dana ===== http://www.aquezada.com/dwagner Make international calls for as low as $.04/minute with Yahoo! Hey guys, Someone has to fill us in on last night's show! There are already a couple of posts on the Emmbassy about how great it was...... To Lee's credit, the show actually started on time, and Emm got on stage around 11:15. (The opening act, Jonny James, was suitably mediocre, as an opening act should be, I guess. Although I'm making that assessment based on the two songs that I heard.) Emm played a variety of material from all albums, including (of course) GV. Some of the tracks from it that she played were "Straight to You" (I think her rendition is absolutely awesome), and "Pour Some Sugar on Me", which elicited a cacaphony of cheering and hooting even before she'd gotten through ten bars. She had to stop and say "you know it's hard enough for me to play this song as it is!" before she continued. For the encores, Emm came out wearing a Def Leppard t-shirt, which, of course, brought a great deal of applause. She joked that "if I had any credibility left before this point, it's totally gone". :-) The club was extremely full, although not as full as I've seen it before. Nevertheless, I was surprised at how many Emm fans there are nowadays. It's good that she's become more well-known; I trust that it's reflected in merchandise sales. Speaking of which, the merch table displayed the new "Dead Daisy Records" wallets -- courtesy of Karen Baer, I think. Altogether quite a good show IMHO. I was pleased to see that so many Headliners made it out to the show, even those from out of town, including Lauren and Trish (*wave*). I plan to post a proper review of the album Any Day Now (tm) :) - - Julian - -- Julian C. Thanks Julian......sounds like it was a great show. I want a wallet! :) Nicky wondering if that Def Leppard shirt was the one Gretchen got Emm in Providence. Or, could Emm have TWO DL T-shirts? That'd be scary... ------------------------------ End of headline-girl-digest V4 #193 ***********************************
