After having done a good bit of walking around Manhattan and meeting up with Jens and Maria (two expatriate Swedish friends of mine) earlier in the week, we'd agreed to meet at the venue on the night of the show. Once I got there, I had to stop and catch my breath for a minute -- when I noticed the walk was longer than I thought it'd be, I hurried as best I could. I stood on the sidewalk, looking around to see if I could see my friends anywhere, when out of the corner of my eye I noticed someone walking up to me. When I turned around, this person said "Hi! How are you? What are you doing here?". That was Emm -- and I've met her once before, over a year ago. She must have a very good memory. She very kindly introduced me to a bunch of people: Nicky (whose last name I don't know), Dana Wagner, Kyler England and Jess Weiser. After that, it was about time for the show, so we went inside, I found my friends, and Jess was first to enter a stage very close to the audience, with Rannie Turingan's photos as a backdrop. She did three songs in a row since she unfortunately had to leave. After that, Emm, Cameron Dezen and Neal took turns playing, with an impromptu appearance by Paul the sound guy. Emm put up a very good performance, but apart from hers, most of the songs were new to me and I have a very hard time deciding what I think of a song the first time I hear it, so I won't attempt a review. I definitely liked what I heard, but I'd have to listen to it some more to really be able to say something about it. After the show, David, one of the people in our group, bought a copy of Science Fair, so I think there's at least one more Emm convert. With the show over, I said goodbye to the Swedes and hung around for a while, chatting with Greg Teltschik, Rannie and his boyfriend Jay. After they left, I pretty much had to walk back to where to I was staying, gather my stuff and get to the airport, since I had a flight to NC that was so red-eye you'd need a bucketful of Visine to cover up the effects. I arrived safely there, and enjoyed a few days in the tranquility of North Carolina after the hustle and bustle of NYC and got back home earlier today. I definitely enjoyed the show and if any of the people I mentioned are reading this, it was a pleasure to meet you all and I hope to see you again some time. - - Johan ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 11 Aug 2001 15:55:29 EDT From: JewelEDA21@aol.com Subject: Re: EC: The Living Room show last Saturday Hej hej!
