Cheers Rannie ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 23 May 2001 21:53:55 -0400 From: "nuvem 1992" Subject: SEC/OAC: Soundtrack for The Debut Hi, I just joined the list a few weeks ago, but have just been lurking. Anyway, I wanted to get some recommendations for/against from the list. Has anyone bought the soundtrack to The Debut? And if so, would you recommend it? It looks like almost half of the tracks are dialogue from the film. I'm not sure if I like that; it's like the Pulp Fiction or Ghostdog:The Samurai soundtracks, but I'm not sure all the dialogue clips are that great after watching the movie. Emm's song is already available from Science Fair and I don't think this is a different version, because it sounded the same to me in the theatre. I don't know most of the artists who are actually on the soundtrack, but during the movie I liked the two songs from Moonpools and Caterpillars, whom I have heard before. Unfortunately, those songs aren't listed on the soundtrack. Can anyone recommend the album that the songs are from ('12 Songs' I think it is called)? It looks like that has to be mail-ordered. Here is the track listing for the soundtrack, if anyone wants to comment on the other artists. 1.Intro To Magic - Silverscene 2.are you guys hungry? 3.Strum(edit)- Basement 31 4.too dark 5.World People - Native Elements 6.you really should say Asian 7.Talkin 2 U (Flava Mix featuring in-cite)- Devotion 8.I Need To Know - Innerlude 9.that was smooth 10.Come See Us (Johnson & Johnson Remix (KNT feat. San Quinn 11.he's just talking to her 12.Invasion of the Octopus People DJ Qbert 13.Set It - Pacifics 14.I never ate a dog 15.Agent Orange - Slapshock 16.she didn't know 17.Quit Stressin (Rock Steelo Remix) - Ora 18.party people 19.I'm Sayin Though Mr. Sirate, Zulu Gremlin & Ken Swift 20.flat noses are nice 21.My Friend - DnH 22.been a long day 23.Devoted - Julie Plug 24.call me 25.Southern Dreamer - Emm Gryner 26.peace thanks, nuvem P.S. If you haven't seen the movie, I would recommend it when it comes to a town near you, although the more unique elements (i.e. stuff you don't see in many North American movies) involves the more traditional Filipino culture stuff. The actual plot and dialogue regarding asian/white mainstream culture isn't that captivating; your tolerance probably depends on how much asian-american pop culture you're exposed to. The movie is overall well directed, with some pretty cool choreographed dancing scenes (both Filipino and Western), and the actors are fine except where I think the dialogue/plot lets them down. _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 23 May 2001 22:05:08 EDT From: Songbird22@aol.com Subject: OAC: Cameron Dezen Cameron's opening for Emm Sunday at the Metro Cafe in DC (what a cool weekend--listening party, emm/cameron @ the metro cafe!), but if you want a sneak preview of some of her live stuff, check this out: http://onlinetvuk.com/12bar/index.html You'll have to register and then scroll through the 20 "most recent" acts on the site and she's listed... Am going to have to consult her sometime on the electronic portion of her act, as I might need it sometime soon ;) It's a good set she did--my favorites are the third song she did ("Haunted") and the fourth ("Last Days") and I'm only up to that one right now, but those are both favorites of mine from the album as well...
