Dunn" Subject: Fez notes I promised to post a few words about the Fez show, so I will :-) I had a totally amazing time; Emm, Gail Ann and Meghan were all really fantastic. As others have said, Meghan is pretty DAMN good; this was my first time seeing her and I was very impressed. I got my arm twisted into buying both her CDs and Joni was right - I am not regretting spending the $35 US although I'll now have to eat plain rice for weeks (j/k :) ) Emm was in fine form and looked absolutely stunning in a shiny blue rockstar dress. She played a new (?) version of Hook Machine, as Markeeeee mentioned already, which I really liked. In addition I got to hear Starcraft Camper Blues and Northern Holiday for the first time. I must of course be made of Gail Ann Dorsey's performance, which was amazing despite the fact that she said she was very nervous, having not played a solo show in many years. (In case you're not familiar with who Gail Ann is - she is a bass player who has pretty much played with EVERYONE in a career spanning a few decades. Most recently she was the bass player in Dar Williams' tour band) Her songs were very pleasant and she has a great stage presence. It was great to see everyone again and of course, it was awesome to drive down and back with Roberto and KR. Great music, great conversations - that's what makes a road trip a KICK ASS one. (and also tolerance of my reckless driving :-P ) - - Julian P.S. It was such a kick-ass time and I'm still high from it. I drove to NYC from RI with my sister, Pauline, and our friend, Kathy. We left two hours later than planned because they both sleep like logs, but we got there OK. Dana was nice enough to let us stay with her--way cool. The show was spectacular and it was nice seeing many of you. I just about lost it watching Mark Plati play guitar to Stereochrome--slammin'! The next day, we went shopping in NYC and I got some cool stuff. We ate at this really great place called Pamela's Cafe.mmmmmm. And now I'm back in my dorm, procrastinating. I'm missing tonight's show in Pitts because I had two exams today and a paper to write for tomorrow. I'm bummin', but I'm going to make the drive down to Bryn Mawr on Thursday. I hate missing out on shows damnitall! I'm almost ready to drop my books and be a concert junkie, but I'm going to at least finish up this semester. After Thursday, there's the TT's show on Saturday and the Providence show next Wednesday. KR...I really wish I had a private jet to fly you here on Saturday. Some day......... Back to my paper. Ugh.
