For some reason nothing has reallyreally impressed me.... :/ which is rare. Hmm I dunno if i totally agree with that statement. There has been quite a number of cds that I have enjoyed this year. The top two on that list would be Sarah Harmer, You were Here and Tegan and Sara, The Art of Business. Other albums this year IMHO in no particular order. Danny Michel- Fibsville Starling- Sustainer Josh Rouse- Home Radiohead- Kid A Jay Englishman - Poor Little Rockstar Wild Strawberries- Twist Emm Gryner - Dead Relatives Madonna - Music (Just BECAUSE) I must say it is interesting to see how my interest in music has shifted a lot towards men again, not that I don't listening to our favorite "lilith" artists, but there really hasn't been many new cds from women. I am sure I could probably expand on this list if I thought hard enough. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 23 Nov 2000 11:13:31 EST From: Songbird22@aol.com Subject: Re: Albums this year rturingan@dico.com writes: > Hmm I dunno if i totally agree with that statement. Tegan and Sara I will agree with and forgot about that one... I think that's one of the few albums this year that I thought everything on it was amazing--music, production, lyrics, vocals, etc... Listened to it over and over again. Sarah Harmer's album I couldn't get in to, though I tried and tried... In fact if anyone wants it from me it is just collecting dust sitting in a box in my room somewhere... Same with the Starling album... Josh Rouse's album is beautiful... I also really like the Beatles "1" and Dar Williams "The Green Room". Oh, and Unbelievable Truth's new album is gorgeous... I was very in to Leona Naess "Comatised" for awhile as well but for some reason the songs started to annoy me :/ There are several I haven't had a chance to check out yet, including Bjork, the new Kent, and several other I can't remember right now... too early! Kid A is a great album as well, but not something that held my interest for very long, unfortunately. and I LOVE radiohead... I love that album as whole, as a piece of art, as something that challenges the way I look at art and music... but I don't know if it's my favorite album of the year. Lately my tastes in music have shifted quite a bit, and I'm not sure if I am changing too much for the music or if music isn't changing enough for me... I am drawn more now to artists that produce a work of art... from the artwork on the album, to the lyrics and music, to the production. Several indie albums this year have completely blown me away... I am also revisiting albums that are classics which contain little gems that aren't even in the same league as much of what is out today.... Pink Floyd, The Clash, The Beatles, even a little Zappa. :) Happy Thanksgiving everyone! :) Jess www.jessicaweiser.com ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 23 Nov 2000 15:17:59 -0800 (PST) From: "mark'eee" Subject: new journal entry heads-up... :no message here: Yahoo!
