Anyway, I saw Emm last Friday in Ottawa and I must say it is really cool to see her again. She played quite a number of her newer songs and wow I can't wait for the new album to come out in 2001. From all the new material I have heard up until now, this is gonna be one of, if not the best emm album yet. It was great hanging out with everyone last weekend... and what is even cooler, on saturday KR, Roberto, chelle, Jay and I hung out in Montreal, where I found a used copy of "and distrust it" for a mere 10 dollars (not 255 US that it sold for on Ebay last week) Of the people on the list who have a copy of "and distrust it,' doesn't the song, "the winter" remind you of pre-fumbling Sarah McLachlan. I love that song. My other favorites off this include "david" (very 80's) and "safety in solitude" (classic emm ballad styles). Yeah I know it ain't Emm, but I figured there are some of you here that dig the stylings of one feisty Erin Smith *rawr*... so for those of you that do, read on... I'll keep it short (since I know I have a tendency to ramble)... basically I started interning at Rogers Television... and I work on a show called Daytime... it's like a midday talk show -- cooks, fashion, authors, actors... and most importantly musicians ;) Anyhoo... I scored the Erin Smith Band a spot for our Nov. schedule! GO ME, I RULE! they came in today to pre-tape their 3 songs... and it'll be aired ***TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 28, 2000***... so if you dig Erin Smith Band, or Rogers Television 10, or you just wanna see my name roll thru the credits ;) tune in to your local Rogers station at 11a.m. (live) and then again at 3pm, 5pm, and 11pm. Needless to say, they kicked ass... and our handheld camera guy kicked the monitor a few times ;) but if you wanna know the details just ask lol over and out, chelle, the born-again lurker http://www.aquezada.com/chelle _____________________________________________________________________________________ Get more from the Web. Of course, if people can't wait that long, I may be able to send you the scans directly. For some reason nothing has reallyreally impressed me.... :/ which is rare. jess www.jessicaweiser.com ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 22 Nov 2000 20:01:38 -0600 From: "spark" Subject: Winnipeg review.. and Emm MP3 site... ! Hey people! I should have been on this list a long time ago..! So I saw Emm for the third time in Winnipeg last night.. It was my first time hearing a set of over 5 songs though and the first time I was closer to her than 200 meters ;) (Front row this time!).. She was AMAZING.. Piano playing was perfect, and her voice was strong and clear as it is usually. Here was the set list, in order.. Half Sorry - great opener Summerlong - This is when Churko came out :) Good version but someone messed up a little on the solo part ;) Serenade - not too much to say about this one Good Riddance - at the end, she said "that was my ode to Betty Granger.. Oh did I say that out loud?! Emm, don't be political!" ;) Boy Races - She dedicated this to my friend andrew and told a small story about meeting him when she was here to open for Alanis.. This version was AMAZINGGGGGGG... I absolutely love it. I didn't like it much before but now it's one of my favourites Disco Lights - funky bass, drum machine stuff.. :) Parting Song - sounded much better than it did on the album IMO Fetching Decay - MY request :) I was so happy to hear it since out of all the live mp3s i have i have never heard this one. she did a little bridge near the end too, to extend it a bit Case of Tornadoes - alternate piano arrangement! lyric changes! MUCH BETTER dramatic ending... oh what a perfect closer... the way she held the note at the end and then let it slide up for 0.5 seconds... WOW We got to meet her after the show and she asked where I was (because andrew had mentioned me to her before when he met her in 98).. i was so surprised she remembered.. she gave me a hug :) and we talked a bit and she signed some stuff.. a perfect ending :) So after that experience I was inspired to make a full multimedia/lyric site for her . :) I need a great title though. I was thinking of "Fuck Tuesday"... surely catches the eye :P and it's in reference to the fact that Tuesdays seem to never go well for her. Any other ideas? or do you like that title? Thanks for listening. :) - - Ian ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 22 Nov 2000 21:33:02 -0600 From: "Leanne" Subject: Re: Winnipeg review.. and Emm MP3 site... ! > So I saw Emm for the third time in Winnipeg last night..
