Amazing... We (me and my friend Mackenzie) got there a little bit early and got right up front and waited for Chantal to come up after some old people were done playing. (it was a bunch of groups playing all day long) So anyway, after they were done setting up Chantal's stuff, we saw Chantal in the wings (haha) of the stage talking to someone and when she turned around to check out the crowd, and we waved to her. and she came over to say hi!! so we got to met Chantal, and I told her congratualtions on her marriage and her Juno and all that fun stuff... I got to her to autograph Colour Moving and Still, and then some annoying person started talking to her saying "Oh i haven't taken your CD out of my CD player since I got it" and Chantal was like "Well you should get another CD" and she turned back to me and was like "So Andrea what were you saying" and then we got a picture hehehe. how cool am I?? .. she thanked us for coming out talked to this really HOT guy in the crowd and then went and began to play. Her setlist included: (in now particular order--only what i cant remember) Souls Before You Surrounded Wayne Feels Like Home Far Away M gi joe and some other new one.. Maybe more I don't remember :( Anyway it was amazing and the most incredible part was when she was playing "M"... well heres the thing... about two years ago my mom's best friend's daughter died of cancer.. we were alll soo close to the family and it totally tore me up... but then ya know.. Chantal's song M is about the same thing and how these parents had to let their child literally give up fighting against cancer... and so anytime I hear that song normally I get reall chocked up.... but here is the amazing part..the concert was outside and it was all cloudy and gross... but when she started playing that song the sun started peaking out through the Clouds,... it was soo amazing and beautiful... So that was my incredible day with Chantal.. can't wait to get the pictures back back to lurking a very happy Andrea ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 8 Oct 2000 09:05:07 -0700 (PDT) From: Mmaarreee Subject: Re: CMJ New York (sec, i guess)/ Rhode Trip Hey All, in Shannons words.... (juuuust kidding) but seriously, right before Grandaddy play on Friday night (Oct. 20) at Irving Plaza, Tenacious D's gonna reign supreme. Tenacious D is a comedic acoustic/folk-rock group featuring actor Jack Black (that obnoxious record store guy from High Fidelity) http://www.sidehatch.com/ I also noticed that Sunna is playing sometime... The main guy from Sunna played guitars for Massive Attack's Mezzanine... mu __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! It really stands for College Music Journal, which had a monthly newsletter and a weekly chart facts sheet. > andy, who shudders to think what she'll have to do about hotels in NYC. Stay in NJ, take a cab or the tube, it's a longer drive/'commute', but you'll likely save $$ and might actually get a hotel room. Yeah, if anyone wants a great hotel in NJ which has a bus that goes to the city, let me know. I live right across the river from NYC. It's SO much cheaper to stay here and 15 min. by bus (depending of traffic) I would offer our place but we have no room, plus I work Friday. Andy C, if you can get here I'll definitely buy you a drink! I must see T&S! By the way, if you're thinking of coming to NYC first, remember it's about 4 hours (on a good day!) from/to Boston... Hope to see a lot of you! jess www.jessicaweiser.com ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 8 Oct 2000 20:31:31 -0700 (PDT) From: dana wagner Subject: Re: NEC- Re: tegan and sara and american psycho and a little M. - --- Andrea wrote: > someone please tell me what > CMJ stands for! when i wrote an article on T&S last > month the editors > changed it and called it the Canadian Music > Journalism conference or College Music Journal. there are actually two publications, CMJ New Music Monthly, which is a widely available magazine that publishes music articles/reviews, geared toward college radio-type stuff. lots of indie or small label stuff. then there is CMJ New Music Report, which is a trade magazine that publishes college radio charts and industry-geared info. many college radio stations report their playlists to CMJ NMR. the magazine sponsors this annual music industry conference in nyc. > let's pretend i'm going to the halloween party, does > anyone from my neck of > the woods wanna stop by NYC before we hit Ayer? yeah, toronto peeps! come down here! gotta support your canadian artists @ CMJ. > andy, who shudders to think what she'll have to do > about hotels in NYC. there's also some availability at my apartment. discounted rates. :) i'll have to go to work friday but if anyone wants to stay over thurs & fri, you're certainly welcome. i can probably squeeze three, maybe four people here. the concerts just never end here... hee hee. dana ===== http://www.aquezada.com/dwagner __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
