Hey All you Head-Liners- I'm feeling quite sad right now, so I decided that I would share my moment of melancholy with all of you. It's 12:35 and I just returned from seeing "Almost Famous", which is one of the most beautiful movies I've seen this year. I almost cried at this on scene in Penny's Hotel Room between Her and William(those of you who have seen the movie will know what I'm talking about, but I don't want to spoil it for the rest of you)and that sadness has now carried on and is working it's way into my night and this post. I turned on my cd player and turned on the Wild Strawberries' "Twist" cd, which is also beautiful. I'm listening to a very sad song(on repeat)called "I know you're gonna break my heart". It's lovely and reminds me of less joyous moments. There's this one line that is so amazing, and yet it crushes me- "Time turns your smile into stone, I don't want to see it and I know I will never know." I feel inspired by both this song and the movie I just saw to sit down with my guitar and write a new song with the sadness that lingers in all my music, but I can't bring myself to. Oh well, life's a bitch, eh? :-) I guess that's enough for tonight. Sorry to be such a downer. Probably the most depressing film I've seen since Boys Don't Cry. But Bjork is great and there is a very interesting integration of music. Bjork is a poor factory worker who loves musicals. That's all I will say because I read a review that gave away the whole story before I saw it which partially ruined it for me. I know it opened in a few cities yesterday but I'm not sure where. Definitely see it if you can. Lauren ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 7 Oct 2000 21:02:23 EDT From: Songbird22@aol.com Subject: tegan and sara and american psycho and a little M. Hey NYC people the fabulous Tegan and Sara will be participating in CMJ music conferences this year in our wonderful city!! On Oct. 20th they play the Mercury Lounge. I'm definitely going if anyone else wants to join me... hey, I'll buy you a drink. ;) Has anyone seen American Psycho? There was talk of it on the list awhile ago b/c there's a Bowie song used during the credits...I think Emm provided bg vocals for it? Anyway, it's a pretty messed up/psychological movie... I have thoughts on it but I'm interested to hear what everyone else thought first. :) I found it to be deep, but I was also completely confused by the end! Oh, don't ruin it for those who haven't seen it! Jess, off to watch "Girl" -- a movie based on one of my favorite books by Blake Nelson--it's awesome!! ;) www.jessicaweiser.com | www.mp3.com/jessweiser <--new stuff, new pic! ------------------------------ End of headline-girl-digest V3 #268 ***********************************
