She is coming to Cleveland with Great Big Sea and some other band I've never heard of. She's second on stage. I'd really like to go see her. I just took Dana's advice and ordered "You were here" off the Rounders Records website, and the CD arrived on Saturday. I've been listening to it non-stop since. This album is PURE brilliance and I just can't get enough of songs like "Basement Apartment" and "Weakened State". I am still immensely hooked on Dead Relatives as well... I get soooo excited when I read a journal entry and hear all the new material that Emm is working on for her new album. I can't WAIT for next year!!! Has anyone gotten "The Twilight Singers" yet, the new Greg Dulli (of Afghan Whigs) side project? Markeee and I were talking about it coming out, but i haven't heard anything from it yet. its getting fantastic reviews in most of the rags i've read. Back to lurkdom... (for those interested in EMM news, she mentioned she's going back to london in mid-october to do some more recording for the new album). also there were stu cameron and marty kinack (of tslc fame). sarah mixed up her set for this show, and i think it was a little better than the last. the crowd seemed more into it. and the canadian groupies (emm, etc.) were very vocal in the back. lauren and i yelled out "every time" as a request, and she said she'd play it if we brought her back for an encore. so we cheered and cheered and clapped but the stage guys just cleared off all her stuff. so no encore. :( afterwards sarah told us she was going to come back, but they hardly gave her any time, and then they just took her guitars, etc off stage. her second set included: the hideout, around this corner, oleander, you were here, weakened state, uniform gray, coffee stain, basement apt, & lodestar. lodestar was all mellow and then in the end they jazzed it up and totally rocked out on it. it was awesome. :) my only complaint was that her 35 minute sets were just too short. i wish i could have heard more. but there was a good variation between the two sets, and at least we did get to see both sets. so 70min of sarah. quite nice! so after sarah's set we all left and chilled for a while with sarah and kevin & the whole gang. and then lauren and i headed home... end of story. but please go see sarah harmer live. you will not be disappointed. off to see holly palmer sinner tomorrow. :) dana - --- Piggio@aol.com wrote: > In a message dated 9/20/00 10:04:44 AM Eastern > Daylight Time, > swirliegirl@yahoo.com writes: > > << going to see sarah harmer tonight...woooohooo! > anyone > heard of church of betty? that's who sarah is > opening > for. >> > > Let me know how Sarah Harmer was.
