Because of its cross-like appearance, people often kissed the X, as one might kiss a Bible, to show that their signature was solemn and sincere. That's how X's got to mean kisses. xxx Joni (but, that doesn't explain o's for hugs......anyone?.....James?) ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 15 Sep 2000 12:52:44 EDT From: JewelEDA21@aol.com Subject: Re: the california rasins Holy shit Seb is SO there, dressing up as himself, too. An o is like a circle sorta... who knows... As far as I can find out from my researches, you are correct. The origin of the 'o' symbol for a hug seems much newer and less well defined than the 'x' for kiss. Also on a semi-related note, starting Friday September 22nd I will have a new phone number so when that comes about I'll be sure to let everybody know the new and improved way to reach me. also, i hate airplanes that break every night. thats right, *every* night. so the next time you take a trip and you step on the plane, remember it was prolly broken yesterday..... that is all shannon ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 15 Sep 2000 18:50:57 -0400 (EDT) From: James McGarry Subject: Re: Trivia for the day On Fri, 15 Sep 2000, James McGarry wrote: > As far as I can find out from my researches, you are correct.
