I've said it before, but I must push this site again - Umbrella Music (www.umbrellamusic.com) is dedicated to the best of the Canadian indie pop scene, and the newly updated site is more streamlined and accessible than it used to be. There's some wonderful features up there right now, including a nice video interview with the Wild Strawberries about their wonderful new album, "Twist", plus a free download of a killer remix of their single "Wish". You can also see the entire video for their hit "Pretty Lip' if you haven't before... Lots of MP3s and videos from a bunch of excellent Canuck acts (check out the very pretty demo from Toronto duo Lost and Profound - they're now known as Red Suede Red and both musicians work at my [soon to be former ;)] office at NOW Magazine! :)), and Umbrella is working with other Canadian sites like MapleMusic.com and Chartattack.com to offer news and listings as well. Worth checking out to revisit some old favorites and discover some new ones! - - Tab :) _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. Although it actually came out last year, it was only available at shows and through Sarah's website until now, so hopefully the brilliant "You Were Here" will reach many more ears now. Look for Sarah touring throughout the U.S. in Sept./Oct., opening for the likes of Billy Bragg and Great Big Sea. Rounder's offering "You Were Here" for the criminally low price of $9.98 (U.S., but still ;)) at their website (http://harp.rounder.com/). It's the most beautiful record you will hear all year, I guarantee it. There are no words to describe it. :-) - - Tab :) _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. Today I was out buying some flowers for my mom's birthday tomorrow, and on the way home I was behind this huge van thing with the Starcraft logo. Little did I know that there really was a Starcraft brand--ha! :) Little things like that make my day. Okay, and now I have a question about a couple of Leona Naess songs. I saw her on Aug. 3rd in Boston and I recorded the show. I'm just getting around to putting it on CD but there are two songs that I don't know the names of. One starts off like: "Come come come come....run run run run..." and the other starts like: "Now that it's gone, now that I'm sober..." or something to that effect. Oh yeah, and is that "mama" song really called Mama or Momma? If anyone can help me with these songs, I would really appreciate it. tank ya. Take care, Nicky ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 30 Aug 2000 15:38:02 -0400 From: Michael Keast Subject: OAC: Mary Lou Lord Help! I've just discovered an amazing singer/songwriter and I don't know the first thing about her...her name is Mary Lou Lord, and all I know is that she's got a brilliant album called "Got No Shadow" that's easily one of the best discs I've bought so far this year. Can anyone tell me anything else about her? I especially want to know if she has any other albums besides GNS, so I can go out tonight and buy them! :) ************************************************* Mike Keast (michael.keast@giffels.com) http://www.geocities.com/dtswd/ "thank god i've got 3 minutes to tell you what i did today" ************************************************* ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 30 Aug 2000 18:45:16 EDT From: JewelEDA21@aol.com Subject: Re: OAC: Sarah Harmer In a message dated 8/30/00 8:10:49 AM, chacheena@hotmail.com writes: << it is the most beautiful album i have ever owned. >> NEXT TO MONARCH by Feist :) peace and love, Seb :) ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 30 Aug 2000 15:57:20 -0700 (PDT) From: dana wagner Subject: Re: OAC: Sarah Harmer i'm now listening to sarah harmer's "you were here." i just decided i'd put it off long enough to mail order the dang thing, and since it's now widely available, i just went out after work and bought it. pretty cheapo - like 11 bucks. beautiful album so far. i am really really into "the hideout" and "open window." i'm bummed now that she didn't stay on the march living room tour w/ sarah slean & feist when they came down to philly and played @ my house. but i'm psyched about the new york show sept 20th - can't wait to see her live! thanks to everyone who kept recommending her. funny that i just *knew* i'd like her before even hearing her stuff! dana __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
