Parting song, Yellow and Little War for some reason. And it's strange to because I've dived head first into all of the other songs on the cd and cannot get enough of them, especially "Today's Rock". My only complaint about that song is that it doesn't have it's own track and I can't put it on repeat(hehe). Ok well that's my comment for today, c-ya. Hey fabulous fumblebabes and headliners, So maybe the folk festival weekend isn't so good for you, (aug 25-27), but man, you're still DYING to come to Ottawa, right? Well get a load of this! Labour Day weekend plays host to one of Ottawa's coolest festivals, Alternafest. No, this does not mean "alternative" music (a la Edgefest). This means cool, mostly unknown stuff...something that strays from the everyday. Previous shows have hosted such talent as Andy Stochansky (Ani's old drummer--I bet he's sick of being called that) and Kathleen Edwards (Ottawa chick) before they were known. Some of the performers this year are... Sept 2: Jello Biafra, the guy who used to front the Dead Kennedys. He will being doing a spoken word show, which apparently, is supposed to be amazing...dealing with human rights, freedom of speech, and the like. Astrogroove, a band with former Shuffle Demon, Richard Underhill (I have to confess I have no clue who this is) Supposedly very funky, electronic stuff. The New Deal...those guys from TO Montreal's Lullaby Baxter Trio and Halifax's Mike O'Neill Sept 3: King Cobb Steelie, also from TO...bassy electronic stuff Liquified, an Ottawa band drum and bass thing with female vox les Jardiniers and Rise Ashen (I don't know these bands) Sept 4: Hawksley Workman! I've heard so much good stuff about him that I think I will HAVE to go see him. He also produced T&S's latest album. The Dears, from Montreal...I don't know a lot about them... Jim Bryson, a hometown boy! Jim is really really good. Kinda folk/rock. He doesn't play all that often so it's a treat to see him...not to mention Ian LeFeuvre and Peter Von Althen of STARLING back him up. Werbo, another Ottawa band, very...well...alternative :) They're cool though. When I saw them at the Tulip Festival their set consisted of one, 20minute song and throwing pizza at the crowd :) In any case, they are anything but predictable. And the best thing about this concert is........ It's FREE FREE FREE! Except Jello's spoken word show, which is 12 dollars. And it's in a really great location...outdoors, right beside the Ottawa river. I'm serious, give it some thought, and let me know if any of you want to come down! LOL. maybe you should listen to those songs when you're not fully conscious, lisa. hehe. dana - --- Lisa Marie wrote: > --- dana wagner wrote: > > is it just me, or can anyone else just NOT get > into > > parting song? > > I'm actually having an extremely hard time getting > into Daryn Song and Today's Rock.
