I'm back in the saddle again after phone line problems prevented me from connecting to the internet or checking email for over a week and a half. i haven't posted in a while, but i just wanted to say that Dead Relatives arrived in Akron, Ohio and made its debut on my stereo speakers today, and it is AMAZING! but then, anything Emm touches is gold in my eyes. i must say this CD is much more mellow than i expected it to be, not that this is a bad thing. some of my favorite songs by Emm are her more mellow depressing songs, i don't know why. guess it goes back to that Shelley quote, "Our sweetest songs are those which tell of saddest thought." To be sure, there are no bouncy numbers like "Revenge" or "Good Riddance" here which make you want to jump up and start dancing around the room, but there are more than your fair share of "Acid" or "Doomsday" stylings to be found. i've got to say i'm amazed by "a little war", "yellow", "daryn song", "suffer", and "mary jill". my dark horse is "atlas"... i really like the lyrics on this one... very cool. i've gotta say, this woman is emm-mazing.... looking forward to seeing her again live soon (i hope)... it is good to finally hear all the amazing songs that everyone on the list (i.e. you lucky canadians and free-spirited travallers (see: Dana) who drive all over to see her) have been talking about for so long... also very cool reading the liner notes and seeing the names of Rannie and Roberto and Julian and being able to say, HEY! I know all those people! (as well as seeing Kristy, James, Steve, and Paul in there, who i have never met directly but still know from "the list") take care everyone! I think the band has to sign up for it though, and being from France might not help the chances of this. To be > sure, there are no bouncy numbers like "Revenge" or > "Good Riddance" here > which make you want to jump up and start dancing > around the room, but there what about SUFFER and ATLAS? those are two groovin' upbeat numbers on there. every time i get to suffer i feel like belting those lyrics out. unfortunately it's usually while i'm at work and have headphones on and can't really sing out loud. :( and atlas always makes me bounce my head back and forth. hee hee. but i love the softer ones like a little war & mary jill & daryn song. i kinda like that the album has that softer, sadder quality to it. > i've got to say i'm amazed by "a little war", > "yellow", "daryn song", > "suffer", and "mary jill". my dark horse is > "atlas"... i really like the > lyrics on this one... very cool. love love love all those. the ones i've been listening to most in the past couple days are daryn song and today's rock. mmmm. i could put today's rock on repeat and just listen over and over and over again and be blissfully happy because it's *so* good. the tone in her voice just tears right into my heart and makes me want to cry. is it just me, or can anyone else just NOT get into parting song? it really makes me sad because it's like one of my favorite emm songs EVER when she does it live. i just think it really belongs as a piano-only song. something about the drums/bass changes it too much. i think the lyrics are amazing, but i just haven't gotten very into the sound of it, as compared to the live version. > hear all the amazing songs > that everyone on the list (i.e. you lucky canadians > and free-spirited > travallers (see: Dana) who drive all over to see > her) have been talking > about for so long... hehe. what a wild coupla weeks! all been so amazing. couldn't have done it w/out leigh and rob and tony, though, so thank you guys. np: "i live on a farm, but i don't do no harm," sure to be lindi's first big hit (esp. with the animal noises) ===== dana wagner -> http://www.sas.upenn.edu/~dwagner | university of pennsylvania, class of 2000 "there was no other living thing/ who meant the sum of everything" -eg __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
