With all due respect, when artists are asked to contribute to a benefit, you take on the artist, and not only that, but the artist's entourage as well. you can't pick and choose behaviour of an artist or there fan base...!!! I just hope everyone wants to have a good time in the name of a good cause. That's not it at all - what I was saying is that some people often find our (and yes, that includes me, guilty as charged ;)) 'fandom' a little intimidating, kind of as if they weren't in on the in-joke, if you know what I mean. And I wasn't saying at *all* not to show your appreciation - what I'm saying is that perhaps we should tone it down a little, seeing that it *is* an intimate show, and we'd like it to be as relaxed and diginifed as possible - it's not a rock'n'roll event, if you know what I mean. [I wasn't going to go into all the details on the list, but suffice it to say, I was asked by the women's group themselves if it was going to be a particularly 'loud' show, because some of the women at the shelter might not want to come if it was. I told them I would try and keep it as low-key as possible, because I want at least some of the women to come out if they feel comfortable.] I think Andy put it best: >sheeesh. how bout a little respect for the performers and your fellow >audience members? i've been to a few shows where i've wanted my own > >friends to shut up b/c they were singing louder than i could hear the > >performers. i think all tab was trying to say is that there is a time > >and place for enthusiastic screaming and singing along, but a women in > >transition benefit at the intimate c'est what, is not it. Well, thank *you*. We're totally excited to see everyone and think the show will be a blast. We've worked really, really hard on this and want it to be a success. We've made some suggestions based on artists, management, and the women's group's ideas and concerns as to how the show should go, so I hope everyone can understand that we're just putting those ideas out there and hope that people can respect them. They're not in any way trying to interfere with anyone's enjoyment of the show. So, hope to see you all there - less than a day to go! :-) Cheers, - - Tab :) ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 4 Aug 2000 20:33:50 EDT From: Songbird22@aol.com Subject: Fwd: message to the list from Alvin This bounced because it came from a non-subscriber email address...
