(and he didn't attempt to wash his hands after using the port-o-let, so wrong, at least pretend!). beaver tails and friends from school. don't want to be home. boo! see http://www.chartattack.com for andy's review online sometime soon. on a more emm related note, something i noticed at fresh fest is that "we" are really loud. i am all for singing along to emm, i have fun at concerts, but do you think that perhaps sometimes our loudness can get obnoxious, somewhat intimidating for other fans, or potential fans? i guess what i'm saying is that while i want to have fun seeing emm play live, i don't want to impose on other fans and make their concert experience less enjoyable. so what do you guys think? ~andy, SW version tell me everything's going to be alright ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 18 Jul 2000 02:34:36 -0400 From: "Cathy Fan" Subject: Re: k-i-c-k-a-s-s that's the way we spell success >i guess what i'm >saying is that while i want to have fun seeing emm play live, i don't want >to impose on other fans and make their concert experience less enjoyable. >so what do you guys think? Actually, I find it more enjoyable when there are enthusiastic fans! There's nothing better than a good crowd- it shows that they're interested and want to be there. Also, it makes up for schmoes like me who just do the toe-tapping/head bobbing thing...it's not because I'm not into it, it's just that I'm quiet- but trust me, I'm just as hyped but I'll just show it with a silly grin on my face. Dana, and all, As Emm states that a particular subject heading is required, I think most/all of you slogan slingers are in fine shape for submitting "another" slogan. - --Will ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 18 Jul 2000 11:10:00 -0400 (EDT) From: Sheila Subject: Re: k-i-c-k-a-s-s that's the way we spell success On Tue, 18 Jul 2000, Cathy Fan wrote: > >i guess what i'm > >saying is that while i want to have fun seeing emm play live, i don't want > >to impose on other fans and make their concert experience less enjoyable. > >so what do you guys think? Although it's bothered me in the past (at a Sarah McLachlan show I went to a few years back people behind me were singing along and it was really distracting), I can honestly say the folks who were up front dancing and singing along didn't bother me at all. I thought it was great, although I was far too shy- I just sat up front and listened in silent glee. I didn't see Matt Good himself watching, but Dave Genn and Ian Browne were there for most of the set. I recognized them right away, but my friends had no idea. I missed the autograph session because Big Wreck were coming on really soon, and one of my friends came mostly to see them. This more generally Freshfest-related, but did anyone notice a drastic change in the type of crowd Sunday night as opposed to Saturday night? I know the crowd was just plain bigger on Sunday, but there also seemed to be much more riff-raff. People were shouting and throwing things a lot more, the crowd-surfing was much worse, and the number of people trying to weasel their way up to the front was just out of control by the time MGB hit the stage. I think maybe Big Wreck and MGB attract a different crowd (which is too bad because MGB are one of my favourite bands). A lot of the Tea Party's crowd seemed to be made up of harmless stoner types (That whole show was a blurred cloud of second-hand reefer smoke for me). Perhaps those 'I hear Matt Good's a real a**hole' t-shirts made all the a**holes in Ottawa think they were welcome. just my thoughts on the matter. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 18 Jul 2000 17:02:03 -0700 (PDT) From: Lisa Marie Subject: Slogan Wars Well, I may as well take my one entry seeing as I won't come up with anything better, no matter how much longer I sit on it. Hey guys, sorry I have no exciting and/or interesting Emm content to share, being in Ohio I'm obviously deprived of any and all Emm shows lately. But enough complaining, I just wanted to let you know about my friend Leah Jacobs who's a musician from Detroit (ahh not another one!!).. I finished her web page a while ago (www.leahjacobs.com) but I just now got a couple mp3's put up. So if you've got some time, go check it out for me will ya? Let me know what you think.. and for gosh sakes, sign the guestbook!! (Yes I'm stealing Alvin's line) http://www.leahjacobs.com On a random note, I saw Third Eye Blind last night and Vertical Horizon was one of the opening bands. I still don't have their CD despite many recommendations, but after last night I'm thinking I have to have it really soon. They were awesome, the lead singer definitely had some great stage presence. And they had a great original sound, not like Splender who played before but came off as nothing special to me (sorry if I offend any Splender fans). Just thought I'd mention that since there's a few VH fans on here... Anybody seen the X-Men movie yet? I'm going to see it Saturday so if anyone's got any reviews/opinions I'd love to hear, I trust and go by Headliner's opinions! Okay enough pointless rambling, back into hiding... *laura ===== "Pardon me while I burst into flames. I've had enough of the world and it's people's mindless games. EMM is wearing baggy burgundy pants with a tiger on the leg and a stain on the thigh. She is also wearing a white tank top with a pink kitty on it. Her hair is slightly green in what her friend BRENDAN would call a Lollapalooza Dye Job, circa 1991. EMM begins to spew more trivia on-line. EMM (with a sigh): Grandaddy. Grandaddy. Granddaddy. My new favourite band is Grandaddy. The Sophtware Slump has not left my CD player for days upon days, and it has been many lifetimes since I have felt this way about a CD. I think I might commit to this CD and agree not to see other CDs for a while. I'm just so satisfied. The last few minutes of "...Crystal Lake". Please. Somebody stop this band. I had so much fun playing in Ottawa. Thanks to everyone who came out, braved the rain and made a lot of noise. You are all much too spectacular for your own good! Among the attendees were rockstars Chelle and Lindi, Dead Daisy Queen KR, Ranster, Andy of the South West, Allie from the motor city, Horns, Graham and new cool faces like Kim and Frank. Frank thoroughly cracked me up during Summerlong with his interpretations of my lyrics set to his own personal dance moves. e.g. the blue waves on my wall... yielded some slinky arm flaps. Many other beautiful faces in the crowd, excuse me if I don't list you all here. Nothing more to say today. EMM thinks for a moment, realizes she does have more to say, but won't say it here right now. EMM exits. Fade to black. ------------------------------ End of headline-girl-digest V3 #188 ***********************************
