Forgot to mention two things in the post about the benefit show: 1. Our very own Michelle Turingan will be opening up the show at 9 pm with a 3-song set. :-) 2. August 5th also happens to be the birthday of a certain Chart Magazine intern that we all know and love. ;-) So come out and represent, y'all! - - Tab :) ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 16 Jul 2000 01:33:47 -0400 (EDT) From: dwagner@sas.upenn.edu (Dana Wagner) Subject: i am the proud new owner of... ... TENDER HOOKS, by the incomparable holly palmer. yep, holly had a few advance copies for sale tonight at the cutting room show, for just $10 each. i'm listening right now. WOW. this cd is even better than expected. to DIE for. whoa. the show tonight was, dare i use the word, orgasmic. :) holly, with robin on guitar and the fabulous cuong vu on trumpet. even better than the fez shows. she played: hurricane, switched, come lie with me, falling silent, five little birds, judas, a rose by any other name, divided, for all we (?), & is anybody home. and then an encore of something i didn't know. AMAZING i tell ya! erica, leigh, the Bootlegger (with a capital B), and i were there, right up front. i got to help out with videoing the show, so we got in waaaay early, for soundcheck, and even helped a bit with testing the mics. then holly asked us to help sell her cds afterwards so we hung out for a bit after the show. a lot of people bought cds so it was great. no idea when "tender hooks" will be released for sure (i'll ask holly wednesday), but if anyone is dying and MUST have a copy right away, email me. her last NY show for a while will be this wednesday at brownies, where she'll be accompanied by cuong on trumpet and bowie bandmate earl slick on guitar. if anyone is around, don't miss this show! so... how was the show in ottawa tonight? can't wait to hear reports of fresh fest too! :) dana - -- dana wagner --> http://www.sas.upenn.edu/~dwagner university of pennsylvania, class of 2000 * "all of the commentary comes between all the living." -emm gryner ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 16 Jul 2000 09:40:37 EDT From: Caffeine47@aol.com Subject: re:solgans Hey all- I got another really bad slogan. Right on... I'm looking forward to the new album. Is this the same "superstar" that's on their first album? The one that goes, "hard core superstar, by far, you're the ultimate star" (highly sardonic, btw) :) That song rocks :) And yes they do kick ass live. Man, that would have been a LOOOOOONG time ago since you saw her... since like 1998? I saw her opening for Bernard Butler in August of that year. She was much better than him, though, IMHO; thank God she's moved up the food chain of British musicians to David Bowie (j/k) So how was the show?
