Dear Headliners Everywhere, RE: "Slogan Wars" Too many late nights on the Internet have led me to snoop around on Headline Girl and I've finally decided that far too many of you are too cool for your own good. Thanks for taking interest in me, and in other artists...it's not often a rock pixie can get on and off a label, take off and sing with Ziggy, take a little quiet time to write new jigs and still find that their are cool cats like you folks who stick around and discuss relevant topics like Napster and MP3s, as well as all your adventures tracking down other artists you like. So in honour of this fabulous list, I wanted to have a Dead Relatives/Emm Tee Shirt Giveaway. And since it came up, I'd like to jump in on this discussion of slogans for Dead Daisy Records, as spearheaded by Miss Wagner and announce that the games shall begin! In one of my past Emmbassy posts, I was talking about Indie Label Startup 101 and I joked that my favourite record company slogan belonged to "No Alternative": Screwing Over Artists since 1995, and that maybe someone should come up with a slogan for my 4 year-old label Dead Daisy. Julian "Aquezada King" Dunn has kindly allowed me to personally give away an advance copy of "Dead Relatives" and a brand new Emm Gryner T-shirt to 5 people who come up with the snappiest slogan for Dead Daisy Records. There will be no guarantee that the slogan will be used, however, and keep in mind we'll be choosing 5 of the funniest or 5 of the most original etc. I'm really excited about Dead Relatives coming out, and the T-shirts are my own design that I hope you'll like. There are two sizzlin' colours... for the more adventurous headliner, there's the yellow gold T-shirt with a big red star on the front which says, can you guess, emm gryner and for the more laid back headliner, there's the metro blue T-shirt with yellow print. These shirts will be available from the DDR Flower Shoppe and at upcoming shows, but here's your chance to get one early! So the contest closes on July 26th, so you have until then to submit a record company slogan for DDR. The only way to submit your slogan will be by posting on Headline Girl, and you must write in your subject header, "Slogan Wars". ONE SLOGAN PER PERSON! If you submit more than one, only your first submission will be considered. Submissions sent to Dead Daisy or the Emmbassy will not be considered. The authors of the 5 grooviest slogans will be listed in the July 28 digest of Headline Girl. Okay. No more rules. Just some fun jousting for the summertime. LET THE SLOGAN WARS BEGIN!
