July 4th, 2000 I escaped the US to spend the weekend in Canada and have had mostly quiet around me, except for the barrage of emails that have kindly informed me that contrary to my last journal entry, Russell Crowe was NOT in Contact. There I go again, being a fountain of misinformation. I apologize to anyone I may have upset, including the cast and crew of Contact. My recent acquisition of a record player sent me to the antique market to buy records, the first being Tapestry by Carole King because I thought it would sound good on a lo-fi turntable, and it does. I've had Richie Ashcroft in my CD player, and love his song "Brave New World", but as of yet haven't quite embraced the rest of the album. Everything's a little bit soft rock in my life right now, but I'm sure like all things, this too will pass. The sun is out today and I am wearing socks that don't match. My cat says hello. His name is Toonces and he stays with my parents because I am too irresponsible to have a cat of my own. I did have a cat for a few years named Emily but I had to give her to Dylan and now I hear she just pees on everything which means that she's still very angry. Probably at me. Anyway, Toonces has been the family cat since 1988, which means that he has had the great horror of watching me blunder my way through all of my early forays into songwriting, not to mention all of the dodgy high-school cover bands. I've decided that this must be why he is on life 9 of 9. Many months ago piano guru and Bowie bandmate Mike Garson (who among about a million other things, is the man behind the keys on the instrumental secret track of the latest No Doubt record) gave me a CD of bits of music he had been working on and there was one piece that completely stood out to me but I hadn't been able to write melody and lyrics to until this past week. The result is a song called "Asianblue" and we've both decided that we like it very much. Mike also wrote music with Billy Corgan for the movie Stigmata. Okay, SPF 8 and logging off. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 4 Jul 2000 15:06:51 -0400 From: Steve I Subject: new pics at emmgryner.com Hey folks, don't know if this has been posted yet, but there are a few new pics of Emm at the Asian Heritage festival at emmgryner.com Steve ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 04 Jul 2000 20:02:08 EDT From: "Jamie Severinski" Subject: calling all CANADIANS!!!!! desperate US emm fans need some assistance HELLO ALL, My friend and I have a bit of a dilemma on our hands.....we need freshfest tickets...and i was wondering if the ticket master in windsor would have them...we are desperate and we will try to get these tickets by any means necessary!!!! the help would be GREATLY appreciated !!!!! thanks again, Jamie ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ End of headline-girl-digest V3 #174 ***********************************
