Subject: FREE copy of "public" & today's cd purchases...

at the recommendation of many, i bought starling's "sustainer" today and 
boy do i love it! muy bueno. 

i also wandered over to a few used CD shops and saw "public" for just $1 
and bought it. i thought that if anyone doesn't have it, or somehow their 
copy got stolen/misplaced/scratched or anything, i'd offer it up to 
whomever wants. i'll even pay the postage. any takers for a free copy of 
"public"? first to respond gets it. 

also, i took a listen to bebel gilberto's "tanto tempo" while browsing 
through listening stations in virgin megastore today and i think this 
album is BRILLIANT. it's almost all in portuguese (a little english), yet i 
was surprised how much i understood just from my knowledge of spanish! 
this woman's voice is beautiful - entrancing almost.  i recommend it highly. 
had it not been 
$18, i would have bought it right then and there. but i think i'll order 
it from amazon instead, where it's only $12, and i have a coupon. :)
to borrow from a recent writeup in CMJ New Music Monthly:
"The Portuguese words melt from her tongue like wax down a candle, 
whether accompanied only by acoustic guitar ("Samba e Amor"), singing 
atop a flotilla of lush orchestration and piano ("August Day Song"), or 
riding gently pulsing electronic beats courtesy of Thievery Corporation 
("Lonely")."  

i also purchased julia darling's "figure 8" and eden white's "this is the 
way...", both of which have been long overdue for me to get. hooray once 
again for joe's cds in NYC!
