Just wanted to let you know my ears are still ringing from the rockin' Juliana Hatfield show last night in Cleveland at the Grog Shop. and Markee, i'd love to check out Joseph Arthur tonight at the same venue, but i have to work... blah. i've heard lots of good things though, and i'm thinking about picking up his latest album. Anyways, Juliana rocked the house; unfortunately, i haven't bought any albums by her since Only Everything, and I think most of the stuff she played was either from Bed or her newest, Beautiful Creature, so even i, who considers myself pretty musically literate and up on things, felt a bit out of the loop. she did play the token "My Sister" which made me feel better about myself. i was hoping to hear "Universal Heartbeat" or "Simplicity is Beautiful", or even "Spin the Bottle", but none of those were anywhere to be found in this setlist.... The Atomic Numbers, from Detroit opened (not too good, a VERY loud, obnoxious, 70's arena rock type band; lead singer was kinda scary looking!), and so did Rosevelt (not sure where they were from), but they were actually very good. lots of upbeat poppy kinda songs... they kinda reminded me of Buffalo Tom a little bit, especially the lead singer. Michael, email me privately if you'd like. i wouldn't mind comparing notes/set lists on with your show you went to in Toronto. i was expecting a mellow show, especially after Trish Concepcion told me that Beautiful Creature is a kind of mellow, mostly acoustic record, a departure from her norm. but Juliana was anything but mellow, with the exception of a couple songs. see ya! pax, the American Rob p.s. oh, by the way, i never posted about this, but i also saw Leona Naess about two weeks ago at the Odeon in Cleveland, and she friggin' rocked the house! she was absolutely amazing! GO SEE HER at a venue near you. i just wish for $12 that we would have got to see more of her and less of Travis; no offense to any Travis fans out there, but Leona is AMAZING!!! ------------------------------ End of headline-girl-digest V3 #145 ***********************************
