Vortex Records at Yonge & Eglinton I agree, Vortex is another one of my favourites, it seems to be another good place to pick up advance and hard-to-find titles...just this weekend I picked up an advance copy of A Perfect Circle, as well as a promo CD for Nina Gordon's new single "Tonight and the Rest of My Life", which they gave me for free since it only has one song on it (and what an awesome song it is, BTW). > ***PENGUIN MUSIC ON QUEEN ST. Monster's not the best place for CDs, they've got a pretty small selection, although they do carry a lot of other stuff (vinyl, videos, posters, etc.) ************************************************************ Mike Keast (michael.keast@giffels.com) http://www.geocities.com/dtswd/ "I'll never be any saner I'm a born entertainer" ************************************************************ ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 23 May 2000 09:24:18 -0400 From: Michael Keast Subject: RE: NEC: good used CD shops > >FYI: cd cat on yonge has like 4 or 5 copies (brand new > >practically, I swear > >cd cat gets their cds from some blackmarket source) of DIDO for super > >cheap.... > > yeah, i think erica bought the cd at cd cat on yonge, and > rather than just finding the cd and putting it in the empty > case, they gave her a brand new, unopened cd. hmmm... used? Vortex often does the same thing...I bought the new Pearl Jam there this weekend, and when I got up to the counter they gave me a brand new copy and still only charged me the used price...I don't know where they get the new stuff, but hey, I'm not complaining! :) ************************************************************ Mike Keast (michael.keast@giffels.com) http://www.geocities.com/dtswd/ "I'll never be any saner I'm a born entertainer" ************************************************************ ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 23 May 2000 10:32:19 EDT From: "Jamie Severinski" Subject: does anyone know hey everyone, I was wondering if any of you knew of any indie record stores in the windsor area. I'm curious, the first single was on this month's CMJ and I wasn't overly impressed, but I've read some good press so I'm hoping the whole album is better. James. Wow, this almost looks like a cyanotype... Looks like it might've been the film or a filter. If it was a lighting effect (there are lights that will cause bluish colours but not as marked as that) it wouldn't have been quite that blue. The film could've been out of date, or it could've been processed wrong. Take a look at the negatives, if they are like that too... it's possible the chemicals were not in correct proportions or again the film... if the negs look ok, it's the printing for sure. It could also depending on the lighting mean that the flash wasn't synched to the shutter... Hope this helps, James. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 23 May 2000 17:41:15 EDT From: TrishTLC@aol.com Subject: NEC: Dido featured on new Eminem album hey peeps, My cousin got the new Eminem CD today and we were listening to it and one of the songs features a sample of Dido's "Thank You"!
