LRC pics will be up sometime next week. cheers! nat May 17th, 2000 Right now I'm reading two books "Last Words: The Final Journals of William S. Burroughs" and "The Professor and The Madman". I finished reading "The Pilot's Wife", because I have an eery fascination with plane crashes, but was disappointed that the details of the deceased pilot's secret life were not as earth-shattering as I would have made them had I written the book. You know, maybe he could have had a basement full of the frozen corpses of classical composers... I am also listening to nothing but DB, and what an amazing trip it is to learn all of his old songs. There is something about them, an undeniable quality that doesn't exist in a lot of new music...I never thought that I would see things this way, such a child of the 80's! But just like listening to The Beatles as my mom and I mischievously plotted our way through Ireland, it's easy to see that there is something about songwriters who do not settle for anything less than the most beautiful, magical melody possible. And there's something about the soul of David's records...Golden Years...the ambitiousness of Station To Station...the sauciness of Ziggy Stardust. It feels very much like a lot of records today have traded a raw, gorgeous, indescribeable quality for technical acrobatics or...something, I can't quite pinpoint it. I'm sure that to many of my fans and friends who, like me, didn't know much before "Let's Dance", if that at all...must be puzzled at my sudden intrigue with his music, but to get inside it, and absorb these songs only leads to being possessed by it. L.A. is a strange and wonderful place. Not a city to be walking around in. A city where you will know the streets better than the cab drivers. (Cab drivers!? In L.A.!) I should mention that the Living Room Show in San Francisco was one of my favourite ones to date! Cheryl was an amazing host and the wonderous Beth Waters performed and I dedicated a song to Nat's monkey socks and the sun came out. Thanks to everyone who came by. A few things in the works...A Ron Sexmsith Tribute Album (due for release 2001) being put together by me and the wonderful Danny Michel (www.dannymichel.ca) who often can be seen playing with popsters Starling. The Lilith Vol 4. record doesn't seem to be a reality anymore (who knows why?!) but liner notes to Dead Relatives are coming along fine and there will be some shows in early August I bet, perhaps even one in June. And perhaps doing up a song with Bjorn Thorsrud who is infamous for his work with those Smashing Pumpkins. And more sessions with the Rocktastic F. Tod are planned as well. But all in all, a very quiet time for me folks. I have some beautiful music to share with you. It's bubbling under. And that's all I can say. ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 17 May 2000 16:09:10 -0700 From: "Mark Urban" Subject: new journal entry http://www.emmgryner.com/cgi-bin/journal/journal.cgi?folder=journal&next=33 Right now I'm reading two books "Last Words: The Final Journals of William S.
