"comatised" is still rockin' my world. now, back to our regularly scheduled emm programming. http://www.emmgryner.com/cgi-bin/journal/journal.cgi?folder=journal&next=33 May 9, 2000 I laughed a little today when I heard on the news that students in Detroit, Michigan in a science class had to be evacuated after being exposed to mercury. Evacuation. I suppose that's always the answer... This weekend was a lovely one. What a great turn-out at the Asian Heritage Festival, co-sponsored by my pals down at AsianAvenue.Com. Some of those stellar Nutley Girls came by, [just after meeting Hanson], and other groovy Headliners were there as well, including Dana who secured her place in the front row hours before the show, only to have to fight for it the minute I took to the stage! Yee-haw. Well, I hope you enjoyed your request. And thanks Lauren for the dead daisies. The birds who landed on my keyboard [not to be confused with the ducks, who actually have never been near my keyboard] enjoyed them as well. I did learn that Kai, who was also on the bill, is actually a boy band from San Francisco, and here I was thinking they were Kai, the glam-rocker who always plays Toronto naked. I suppose there are 2 Kai's. Just as there are 2 Emm Gryners. [Being a Gemini and all.] I will say that it was a wonderful sight to see such a diverse group of asian folks, and asian-americans out to absorb music and learn more about each other. Alongside my Emmphasis page (which will be updated soon) and the Tibet campaigns, I am becoming more and more interested and energized by not only my own heritage, but the increasing achievements we are making as artists. It really is important that we continue to work towards breaking down some of the prejudices towards asian people, and folks of different races as well. It really does come down to putting your heart and soul into what you do, keeping in mind the beautiful place you came from and giving a little bit of support to each other. So thanks to everyone who came out. In my spare time, I've been furiously learning new Bowie tracks (we're learning some of my favourites, I'll just say that!) and reading engaging books about history. I was very intrigued by one book that outlines great historical blunders which date back to Roman times and lead up to The Nineties, a chapter for every fiasco. But I decided the book was no longer a worthwhile read, when it tried to tell the story of JFK's assassination in 2 or 3 pages, and then finally blamed his death on JFK himself! Maybe the book's a blunder, too. Or maybe I should just start watching TV again. - -- Dana Wagner University of Pennsylvania, Class of 2000 http://www.sas.upenn.edu/~dwagner/ "rushing to slow the decay, i don't care what the people say / days burn up like weed and we're still the same." -emm gryner ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 9 May 2000 15:55:12 -0500 From: dana wagner Subject: canmus webzines does anyone know of any good webzines that focus on canadian music? i really need to know by tonight! thanks, dana - -- Dana Wagner University of Pennsylvania, Class of 2000 http://www.sas.upenn.edu/~dwagner/ "rushing to slow the decay, i don't care what the people say / days burn up like weed and we're still the same." -emm gryner ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 10 May 2000 00:00:01 -0400 From: DanStark Subject: Re: canmus webzines At 04:55 PM 5/9/2000 , dana wagner wrote: >does anyone know of any good webzines that focus on canadian music? i >really need to know by tonight!
