[Zelie519@aol.com] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Wed, 26 Apr 2000 00:39:09 EDT From: Zelie519@aol.com Subject: TARA IN CLEVELAND!! All that I can say is AWESOME, AWESOME, AWESOME!!!!!!! (BTW - Sorry for the cross post to Headline Girl... but I HAVE TO share my Tara news!!) Rob and I just got back from the Tara and Dido concert at Liquid in Cleveland. Tara was WONDERFUL, as usual! Dido opened for Tara and played most of her "No Angel" album. (Here With Me, I'm No Angel, Hunter, Don't Think of Me, Honestly OK, My Lover's Gone, All You Want, and an unreleased one called Don't Leave Home... I think that's the name) She received great response from the crowd... who surprisingly seemed to know her music. BUT... enough about Dido... MY news deals with Tara!! :-) Blake was practicing on his drums and saw us and came down to say hello. I asked him if Tara would play "If You Could" tonight, since I posted on In The Wings last week asking if someone who was seeing Tara before tonight to ask her to play it for me. He said he didn't think she'd play it... too loud and she also wanted to do a "rocking" show. So, Tara performed... it was very different from the other five times we've seen her. She didn't play any of her normal "mellow" songs. She opened with Passenger... which was a complete surprise. Lately, it seems like she's been opening with Evidence. But anyway... she then played If I Fall, Evidence, Red, The Maker (yeah, that song by that guy whose last name no one seems to know - Daniel Lanois -- thanks to Rob for helping me with that!!), Jordan, and ended with Divided. Dido's drummer Alex accompanied Tara on The Maker... it ROCKED!! :-) No encore!! :-( AND no "If You Could"!!! :-( BUT, not to fear... there's more... as there always seems to be with our "Tara encounters!" After the show, Blake stopped and chatted with us again... and then we went to the back of Liquid in this tiny, dark corner to say hello to Tara! She gave us a big smile... so I'm assuming she remembered us from past shows. I had a picture that Tara and I took when she was in Cleveland at Shooters last month for her to sign. Here's the good part... :-) Hehehe!! I asked Tara if she would consider playing "If You Could" at tomorrow night's show in Akron. I told her that Blake told me that she usually only plays it at quiet venues. And she said... Does your e-mail address begin with a Z?? And I said... YES!! It's zelie519. And she said... well, my mom called me from England the other day and said that I HAD TO play "If You Could" when I came to Cleveland or Akron. Tara then proceeded to tell me that her mom read my e-mail on In The Wings last week requesting that someone ask Tara if she'd play that song. Tara was kind of embarassed that her mom was reading the mailing list... but her mom told her that someone really wanted her to play that song! AND THAT WAS ME!!! :-) YEAH!! So, Tara told me that she'd play "If You Could" tomorrow night in Akron!!! :-) YEAH!!! I'm sooooooooooo excited!!!! See, you never know who might be reading this mailing list!! I think it's sooooo cool that Tara's mom called her from England to tell her someone wanted to play that song. I've often wondered if Emm or Tara, or for that matter, any other artist reads their mailing list!! Makes you wonder... :-) Ok... so that's my BIG Tara news for today!! :-) I only wish that Attila would've come down from Detroit to share in it. BUT, it was VERY COOL to share yet another Tara concert with Rob (this would be our 5th Tara concert.... and 2nd Dido concert) and as usual it was an eventful evening! :-) ANYWAY... this is turning into a REALLY long post!! :-) Sorry! So, I shall end this... Rob says he has nothing to add... at this moment at least!! Goodnight everyone!! And I'm sure I'll post again tomorrow after her Akron show! :-) Oh, hello to all the fellow listers that were there tonight!! Smile! :-) Stephanie and Rob ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 26 Apr 2000 01:15:01 EDT From: Piggio@aol.com Subject: Calling all webmasters Hey all - I TRULY appreciate everyone who has stopped by and checked out my first foray into the web page making world! and everybody who made comments or suggestions, i really appreciate your input!!! it means a lot, and hopefully i'll make a site you can enjoy and we can all be proud of (although admittedly i'm no web guru... i'm a complete novice and this is purely for fun) anyways, the reason i'm writing is i'm not yet satisfied with the server i'm using, so don't expect my site to stay at Tripod. I just can't deal with stupid Pop-Up ads; I also like the frames format that i'm currently using, and you can't use embedded ads if you use frames. so this may sound like a dumb question, but if anyone knows of a web site provider out there that doesn't make you have dumb pop-up ads (and its free, preferrably), can you recommend it to me? someone told me Yahoo is decent and that it only has one pop up ad, on the first page you go to, and not a pop up on every single page. i could deal with that. i guess you also get 15MB of space as opposed to 11MB on Tripod. anyways, i digress... any suggestions??? FREE would be nice, but really really cheap is okay too. Rob ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 25 Apr 2000 21:03:31 -0700 (PDT) From: laura robeson Subject: NEC: Saucy baby! How has Emm's music touched your soul/inspired you/made you the fan you are? What kind of personal connection, if any, do you feel to her music? 2. Has Emm's music influenced or changed your perspective on music (or life) in any way? How? 3. Has any particular song of hers inspired or affected you more than the others? Describe. [for example, you've all heard my thoughts on 'case of tornados'] 4. If you could use 10 words or less to describe your feelings about her music, what would they be? It can be individual words that come to mind, or a sentence. 6. Have any interactions with Emm influenced your feelings about her as a person and/or musician? If so, please describe how. 7. What do you think about Emm's status as an indie artist? Would you rather see her on a bigger label where she could get more promotion/publicity? Do you think that she could remain as accessible to her fans if she became more publicly known? Any other comments? thanks so much! if those who would like to respond could get their answers to me by, say, sunday it would be helpful. dana ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 26 Apr 2000 08:04:31 -0700 (PDT) From: laura robeson Subject: Attention all shoppers: phone call for Attila on line 1! =) Hey Attila, I lost your email address and I have to ask you about something regarding Thursday night.. so if you could send me an email, I'd really appreciate it :) ~Laura ===== "I'll be checking out the scenery From as high as I can be Come let faith be your garden Always changing always still Still breathing" *Tara MacLean* __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Laura, i am so sorry, and i hope that somehow you can work it out and get yourself a ride, because she is NOT to be missed! if i was able to get off of work early enough to get out there (AND if i didn't have to work Friday morning), i'd LOVE to be the one to volunteer to come up there and drive you to Detroit. so having said that, i almost hate sending this post, because its almost like rubbing salt in someone's wounds, but we got to see Tara and Dido for the second consecutive night, and let me just say, she was astounding again (as usual)!!!! and the best part is, she played "If you could" especially for miss Stephanie who had requested it last night when we were in Cleveland. it was so amazing that she played it at all because both artists found out that they only had 20 minutes each to play -- they found out about an hour or two before their sets -- bummer! so obviously she had to limit the set list to 4 songs (and Dido to 5) -- she played If I fall (of course), followed by Richard Thompson's "Dimming of the Day", if you could (by special request -- AMAZING), and she finished off with Child. a very mellow set in comparision to the very upbeat, rockin' set she played the night before and Liquid. but i know she won a few more fans over. and we got to see and chat with Blake again, her amazing drummer -- SUCH a cool and down to earth guy. no great Tequila stories to share, unlike Dana, but it was fun to see her again. i also bought a minidisc player/recorder today, so i almost recorded the show, but i couldn't find a microphone anywhere (i'm going to have to order one directly from Sony because no one around here sells mics for MD players)... well, maybe next time she comes around... that's it for me, kids... i'll have reviews up on my website (http://members.tripod.com/pvt_idaho) by this weekend... pictures probably by early next week (provided I see Steph before then; she's my staff photographer, LOL) see ya!!!
