I adore and worship her for many reasons, one being the way she stays seperated from all the traditional tactics of succeeding in the music world and still she continues to do well. So it's kind of disappointing when I see her giving in lately.. Is this making sense to anyone or am I just losing my mind?? >> Maybe its a way of her saying you CAN succeed in the music world with true artistry, playing your own music, and writing incredible (both deep and meaningful) lyrics. maybe she's trying to show the world, the people who DON'T know her the way we do, that there is some good talent out there, and music today doesn't have to be all about supermodel good looks, great dance choreography and bubble gum lyricism. unfortunately, the only venue for her to get that message across may be through a mass medium. i for one would not be disappointed if an artist like Ani got as big as a Britney Spears (although i know the likelihood of that ever happening is about as great as Huey Lewis and the News making a big comeback). sure, everyone would love her and be on the "Ani bandwagon", but at least the rest of the commercialized world would be listening to good QUALITY musicianship for a change. just my two cents. hope it makes sense. She still doesn't give a rats ass about what they think, she is true to herself. Being an Ani fan for about 4 years now, beginning right about when she began a transformation in her music that has cost her many fans, it proves that Ani is true to herself. She sees a change in her focus, a change in her musical interests or influences and she follows that part of her heart that tells her to change, no matter what other people think. Her latest tour with Gillian Welch and Greg Brown shows that.. she dropped her traditional band and toured with a couple of die hard folkies, that is one concert I will never forget for both good and bad reasons. Ani is Ani. Yes, she's usually avoided most forms of mass media.. with the exception of print.. I don't think she minds being written about, she still has to promote her albums. So she's done a couple of big late night shows or whatever in the past little while, so what? How else would she open the minds of so many people and introduce them to her music? The more ani fans the better, as long as they're fans for the right reasons. Anyway, that's enough of my babble for today.. have a good one. And MORE updates to come!!! anyways, if you could check it out and give me your opinions, i'd be MOST appreciative.... especially from some of you web-guru's such as Julian and Ro-beer-to, who have MUCH more experience at this that i do. anyway, its: http://members.tripod.com/pvt_idaho Thanks! The freak show can never be too big! :) ~Laura __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Send online invitations with Yahoo!
