I recall long rides in the family Volare listening to Willie's "Stardust" record over and over, my dad masterfully managing to drive the car as the steering wheel kept falling off. My brothers would be on either side of me, because being the baby, I was forced at gunpoint to sit in the middle. Then, when it all got too much, I'd just stare up and cross my eyes and let all of those little dots on the car ceiling assume a dizzy three-dimensional spectacle. Yes, those were the days. So after this, we wandered over to the cinema to see High Fidelity. I love that John Cusack has never appeared in a bad movie. I love that most of the movies he's involved in production-wise have great soundtracks. The world needs more John Cusacks. Well it's off to Wembley with London's most renowned Shirtshrinker, this time as a spectator, to take in the incomparable Rob Smith et al. Then I'm in the studio for some demos and crazy days with producer Felix Tod. Check out his snazzy site, felixtod.com. Gotta love a producer with a website AND an ideas page. You may know Felix from his groovy work with Heather Nova. Until the next spill... I went out the very next day and bought their CD and I've been TOTALLY hooked! I HIGHLY recommend it... although it's very different from Emm, Tara and the usual music that people listen to on this list -- as my friend Rob (piggio@aol.com) already posted yesterday. I also recently purchased two other CDs - Radford and Splender (Target $7.99 special - hehehe). They're both similiar to VH (although Radford has more rock in their songs)... in fact, Splender and VH are doing a lot of performances together on their tours. And I also got Kendall Payne's CD. Surprisingly, I like it!! I wasn't thrilled with "Wonderland" which is featured on the "Teaching Mrs. Tingle" soundtrack (yes, I own it!! BAD movie, but AWESOME soundtrack... it has TWO Tara songs, so how can it be bad?!?!?) BUT... I heard Kendall's "Closer to Myself" on Felicity one night and I thought I'd try out her CD. (It seems like I "discover" most of my music through Felicity or people on this list suggesting things. LOL! My next purchase might have to be Leona's CD... I've heard lots of good things and have even listened to most of the CD!) Anyway... that's all I have to say... keep on suggesting new music for me to get. My little CD collection keeps building and building! Wow, all this hub-bub about VH is getting me all crazy!! LOL. . It's funny cause at Michigan State they have the College Television Network and they have been playing them forever and ever. It is definitely the best music station I have ever watched. If you wanna ever find new and fun artists it is the station to watch. I have seen Beth Orton, Tara MacLean, Sarah McLachlan "Ice Cream," and all sorts of videos that you don't really see on MTV. . . If you can somehow watch it sometime, definitely check it out!! I recommend it highly!!!! Take Care and Happy Holidays!
